"The Montreux Jazz Festival never fails to attract large crowds, which makes it sometimes difficult to find a table. We opted for the Grand'Rue, simply because we were hungry, the menu looked okay and reasonably priced, and there were tables available.My wife ordered a steak (entrecôte) with vegetables and house fries. The meat was tasty but some parts of the cut were somewhat tough.I ordered fillets of perch (filets de perche) with lemon butter and house fries. Not a good choice to make in this restaurant. The fish was absolutely tasteless, and it seemed that no amount of additional lemon butter and pepper could help. I even added salt (which I do only in extreme situations), which didn't make it any better. I ate the fish because I was hungry, but these were definitely the worst filets de perche I have ever eaten. The house fries were okay, though.We will not return to Le Grand'Rue, nor will we recommend it of course. This is regrettable, because the service was excellent and quite friendly, the presentation of the food was appealing, and the restaurant itself is modern, clean, and welcoming.It may just be that the kitchen had a bad day."

"Their kebab is very good. Crispy bread and tasty filling. You can choose between chicken and lamb kebab. Also the pizza is worth to go there. Ok, the ambiance is typicall take away restaurant. But really very good kebab!"

"Food excellent, service exemplary. Moreover we ate no more expensively here than at several other restaurants in Montreux during our stay. Although the service and cuisine are just the same, the inner restaurant, plush, low-lit, intimate, has a quite different atmosphere from the 'conservatory' extension. The extension is completely family-friendly, the inner area seems made for couples - er-hem!"

"I have submitted 5 reviews to this little restaurant before, which gives him a high praise. It used to be a real timewarp, a bit darker and interesting clientele, because it is also a betting shop. The value, though, used to be excellent. Unfortunately, the new owners have enormously increased prices. While they have also swallowed the place up, the most important courses are the same prices as other, much more intelligent restaurants in Montreux. Regular local customers seem to have disappeared. How bad. I'll miss my visits here."

"This is the second time we have stayed here. As before we found the hotel to be excellant and the staff very polite and helpful (they dont mind speaking english. The breakfast is excellant and of very high quality. Also well worth the extra to book a supieor room overlooking the lake."

"Popped in on a Monday. Place was busy which is always a good sign. Waited 5 minutes for a table but soon seated and served. We had the BBQ platters of sea food and marinated pork, with a lovely local wine. Attentive service and great value for Montreux. Would eat here again!"

"On our 5-day trip in the Montreux area, this was one of the best parts. On our first night, we ate at one of the fancier more expensive restaurants on the lake and were completely disappointed. The next night we went up the mountain some to Glion and found this great place. It's conveniently located near the train station (and the place we were staying). It has a much more relaxed, inviting atmosphere than places in Montreux. It feels like a quieter restaurant that locals enjoy. The owner is very friendly, provides great service, and speaks several languages. Even though the restaurant was very full, the food arrived quickly. The food was excellent! We ate out a lot on this trip, and the food here was my favorite. I highly recommend the filet de cheval. It was very tender, cooked perfectly, and had a tasty mushroom sauce. Prices were also less than similar restaurants closer to the water. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and will definitely return the next time I'm in the area."
