"Nothing can beat Orien´s for flavor. Nothing is ever generic there. Each element of the meal is crafted. You know you are eating exactly what was planned, from the purchase in the market, through the prep, through the heating and then to the presentation. And what is missing is as important as what is served. Care is taken to keep the flavor direct, no confusion, nothing is hidden or masked. If you get a slice of watermelon for your salad, that is the heart of the watermelon, it is perfectly ripe and the flavor is knock your socks of intense. If you get rolls, butter is not a side. You are to taste the bread not the goo of the butter. The portions are balanced and they are controlled. For the meal I had today, there was a fruit flavored drink, starfruit, pleasant without being overly sweetened. I ordered a vegetable salad-- it came with a puree dressing, no oils. I chose the hot soup, a julienne of zucchini, carrots, celery and a couple more vegies in a light vegetable stock. You choose 2 out of 3 items for your main course. It helps if you have reviewed the menu by the door to get some introduction, and it might not be bad to take notes if your Spanish, like mine, is limited. I ordered the tofu in black sauce and the apple patty after a conversation on what had eggs or milk. Along with these selections was a salad with nopal and a serving of rice. The apple croquette was crisp even caramelized. I never have had a better tofu. The salad was spicy and sharp. I used the rice to get all the black sauce off my plate. Lastly I got a baked sweet roll, soft enough to eat with a spoon.The place is out of the way, down from Plaza Americas along a boulevard with lots of traffic. The street number is not sequential. Look for the number next door 1493 Garcia de Leon which is easier to find. Go closer to 2 than 1 to be a part of the charming social crowd that has lunch there regularly."

"You will not be able to partake of the pretty view while sitting, eating your meal but take a stroll after you've ordered and before the food arrives, or once you've finished your meal. It's gorgeous and very romantic. Nice to escape the hustle and bustle of central Morelia for a little while, too. Quite formal ~ white table cloths, etc ~ but not terribly expensive. The menu is good, if a bit uninspired. Not my best meal in Morelia but a good one, none the less."

"I liked this place. It has a very interesting menu with a good variety of dishes and pastries. Gluten free options available. The breakfasts are available until 2:00pm, which makes it great for brunch. I had a crepe with cheese, ham and spinach, which was only ok, but my friends had some eggs, smoothies and a club sandwich that were very good. Coffee is good too. Nice staff. I would go back to try something else, but I would order a crepe again."
