"I reserved a table for eight near the window with a view of the Fraser River and was careful to explain we were bringing guests from out of town. When we arrived we had been put in two tables in a long row with seating...on only one side, making conversation impossible. Instead of apologizing the host put it down to miscommunication. We went elsewhere and won't be back. Sadly I can't comment on the food or service since we never got to try it. Grrrrr...."

"I booked our reservation a few days ahead of time for Dine out Vancouver 2015. We got there in time. The restaurant looked pretty impressive from the outside. Very modern and sophisticated. The hostess said they didn't have a reservation for us and they said that there were 2 reservations under my name and a customer had come in and claimed both reservations. I was so confused. If I had to make sense of what she was telling me it was that someone had the same name as me and they figured this person accidentally made 2 reservations so they deleted both when they checked that customer in. They acted like they were doing us a favour by finding a table for us. We were seated and given menus and there was no mention of specials or the Dine out menu. I had to ask. The service was intolerably slow. We sat for ONE WHOLE HOUR for our appetizers. Our whole dining experience was a little over 2 hours. Our server never asked us how everything was. Never asked us if we needed refills. Never checked in on us at all. Our entree and dessert were served by other people who didn't even know where our table was. So our dessert was placed on 2 different tables before it finally came to ours. We had to keep our cutlery from our appetizers for our entrees. We had to keep the same flimsy napkin that we started with for the rest of our meal. Our server did not care about us at all. I can't believe my partner tipped her 10 dollars.Our food on the other hand was exceptional. We ordered the tomato bocconcini salad and caesar salad were presented well and tasted good. The New York steak was very very good, and the stuffed chicken was good as well. And the dessert was worth the wait. deep fried oreos with vanilla ice cream and a slice of cake. You would think that we would have our own plates of dessert as we are paying $28 EACH for 3 courses. But we had to share one plate. I don't know if I would have the motivation to come here again. if you don't care how you are treated, go for the food. If you care about hospitality in the HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY then don't go!"

So we went to the “Pho Express Angkor” since it appeared to be one of the very few non-fast food restaurants in that area. "Have you got IT?And by “IT”, I mean an IT Char Burger? If you’ve never heard of an IT Char Burger before, it’s probably because you can only find it at a tiny hole-in-the-wall burger/cafe/Indian/Asian food outlet in a nondescript mini mall located in New Westminster. The next time you’re around Royal Square Mall on McBride and Eight Ave, head into the little shopping mall and grab a burger from IT Char.Their signature IT Char Burger with Fries comes in for under $10 with fries. I added a side of gravy and have to admit that it was pretty awesome. The burger comes with two chargrilled patties topped with caramelized onions, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato. Everything is made to order and the fries had the perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft interior that paired perfectly with the thick, rich gravy.Yup, it doesn’t get much better than this. There’s not really a food court in this mini mall… but they do have some tables that you can sit at to enjoy your meal. This place also serves up western-style breakfast options, butter chicken, as well as some Asian dishes… but I always come back for their burgers.I finally decided one day to try one of their other burgers… the Double Spicy BBQ with fries and drink for under $10. It’s fairly similar to the IT Char Burger in that it comes with caramelized onions and double patties. Where it departs is that it’s topped with thick-cut jalapeño slices as well as a sweet bbq sauce.This time around, I didn’t order the side of gravy and I was kicking myself because it really sends the fries over the top.The jalapeño slices didn’t actually give this burger much heat but the burger was quite messy to eat with the mix of sweet caramelized onions and bbq sauce.IT Char makes a heck of a burger… make sure you check them out if you’re in the area."
