"After two weeks of excellent food and service in the restaurants of Portiragnes and Portiragnes Plage we happened upon this place after a windy morning on the beach. Shocking. We arrived more than half an hour before the kitchen was due to close and made sure to ask for a table for two adults and two kids. We were pointed to a table by a surly member of staff. Before the afternoon was done she had slopped wine over the table and found someone else to take the order. She did enjoy her cigarette though after settling herself down on the other side of the restaurant, when finally she broke her face. It seems that the rest of the team were looking forward to their fags too. The seafood was undercooked and unappealing, the wine warm, and even the chips were a mess. The bread was convincingly sliced to be fair and there was lots of it. Needless to say the only time the staff looked interested is when they brought the €70 bill. Food bad, service awful, nice view of the car park though. Portiragnes Plage has plenty of other lovely places to eat with great food and attentive staff, and a short stroll or cycle away will take you to Portiragnes itself where we had an excellent lunch yesterday at Chez Jeff, where the oysters and mussels were outstanding."

"We as a family were very disappointed with the food here (service wasn’t great either... not terrible but not attentive in a restaurant that wasn’t overly busy). I would recommend you go elsewhere but if you must eat here, stay away from the fish pasta...dishes ... even my year old was looking for pepper to liven up his seafood pasta dish. My last impression as I left this restaurant was ... it’s not a cheap meal and so disappointed. We will not return."

"We had booked a table for 1pm 4 adults and two small children.We were served drinks almost immediately.After ordering our food there was along wait with no explanation other than they were busy. At 2.05pm two adults food arrived followed by children’s 5 minutes later.Another10...minutes passed before plate one of three tapas ordered arrived. Another 15 minutes passed before we asked about the other three plates.We were told that two of the dishes were now unavailable.There were no suitable replacements so asked for the fourth plate ,chips to be brought.No chips arrived and we therefore left paying for what we had .No apologies."

"I hope I don't sound too sound gushing ; but we've just had the most wonderful meal ever at the Marie Jack restaurant . My Sister in law , husband & I were early at Portiragnes beach looking at all the menus & the owner let us in for a drink even though it wasn't yet midday .I ordered the champagne & peach cocktail , my husband the pastis & Pat had a glass of red wine whilst we studied the menus & ate the complimentary ripe black olives in herbs de Provence .We decided upon the 11.80 € menu with 1 litre of good house red at only €11.50 .As it has been such a hot day we were happy when the attentive staff opened the terrace up for us to let in some cool air whilst we sipped our drinks & watched the people pass by . When my prawn starter arrived ;- I was " eating with my eyes " - (photo to follow ) as it was so attractively presented . My husband had the melon & ham which was also mouthwatering & fresh .For the main meal we chose fish in batter / steak & chips with salad , also excellent . Followed by specialities of carpaccio pineapple with mango sorbet - wow ! Not only was the food superb but the service too was excellent ; ( the waitress & the owner came regularly to our table to ask if all was well , which made us feel very special .)The icing on the cake was the complimentary digestive drink offered by management who came to clink glasses to our health . I cannot remember when we were treated so wonderfully by a restaurant we've never frequented before . We are all of us looking forward to returning to this amazing place & would certainly recommend to friends & relatives for the cheap menu of only € 11.50. However there were some very posh menus with a higher price range for the true gourmand . I don't think I've ever had such good value for money at the beach , which is normally more expensive than the inland villages - only € 56 for the three of us with all the drinks & 3 course meal . My photos do not do justice to the beauty of the actual meals we were served"
