"The restaurant seems rather simple and poplar from outside, and it is indeed. However, the food is EXCELLENT! We took a nice starter that ended up to be enough as a meal for 2 persons. It was just gorgeous!The argentian beer is also very good. Give it a try.The price is very democratic."

"Because of the somehow isolated location (meaning you have to take a taxi or walk and take a bus to go to town), we didn't have high expectations, they could seriously don't care about the food and the clients. We ate there twice, the first and last nights (out of 4). The first time, we had the soup of the day and the arugula salad, both very good. Hubby had the pacu, a local fish, and found it delicious, I had the vegetarian sorrentinos. I was a little bit disappointed in that I hate black olives and the sauce was full of it - it wasn't mentioned on the menu. I also hate to waste a whole dish so I didn't return the plate and I put the olives aside but the whole thing was "contaminated". The second time, we had the arugula salad again as well as the vegetarian wok (with oyster sauce though), then hubby took the steak which was excellent and cooked to perfection. The chef was out of pumpkin ravioli and I had to go with the sorrentinos again. This time I asked the waiter if it was possible to have them without the olives and they were really good. The last coffee was on the house, maybe because of my "olive" experience although I wasn't complaining, we don't know but it was a nice touch.Our 2 waiters were wonderful! Nice, discrete but helpful when we needed them. We were happy to practice our Spanish with them while it was nice to be able to switch in English when needed. After the first dinner, we would wave, smile and talk with each other, again those 2 were adorable. We don't remember their names which is a shame because we would love to thank them for their kindness and making us feel "at home".The only bad point is the price. It's more expensive that the 2 other restaurants we went to in Puerto Iguazu. I really believe that if the prices were more reasonable, more clients at La Cantera Lodge would eat at the restaurant. The setting is gorgeous, the ambiance is great, the food is good, the service is awesome (when you're not stiff and like personal touch which we do). We came back the last night for those reasons but decided to cut down the bill by not taking a bottle of wine. Too bad."

"I am terribly sorry to be unable to join the cheers about this restaurant. To me, it seems like many people are charmed by the guy taking care of the customers and that the reviews thus are not so much about the actual food. The food was alright but not more than that. But what brought down our experience were a couple of things:1) The prices. All restaurants in Puerto Iguazu are overpriced and this joint is no exception. 2) The limited menu. There seem to be loads of food to choose from at a glance, but we were then told that we could choose between four different dishes. Disappointed.3) The food is simply not that good, in spite of the overwhelming references that you can find here on TripAdvisor. The man who runs this place is also very happy about his own restaurant and will not miss any chance to inform you about this.I was not impressed by the overcooked pasta I got and the size of the portion was ungenerous. Finally the starters (prawns) were too salty but although with perfect structure, I'll admit that."

"Went here on the recommendation of the hotel Merit Iguaza Hotel! Turned up having walked town and taken recommendation to go here as close and bumped into a couple of people on same trip as us! Ordered fish empanadas first time seen and two different cuts of steak both with French fries simple yes? First rickety chair breaks, whilst I am not small I wasn't leaning back and rocking on said chair before it broke in half landing me on my backside! Much to the amusement of my other half and others in the restaurant! Secondly empanadas arrives hot on the outside frozen in the middle this was sent back 15mins later another turns up still frozen in the middle I forced the waiters finger in it to prove still frozen beware all that is supposed to be fresh isn't fresh! This was then disgarded and awaited the main courses. My main course arrives as expected steak with French fries but my other halves turns up with steak and boiled/fried potatoes and when asked of the waitress the response was yes my mistake and she buggered off with no I will change it to what was ordered or anything! Much to say my other half was well disappointed (politely speaking or pi$$ed off really)! They offered my other half a free dessert which was declined as she isn't one for dessert and we asked for the bill. I was presented with the bill without the empanadas and told that we would not have to pay the bill so why give it to me then? On principle we paid the bill and left without leaving a tip except the cost of the bill! Would I recommend this restaurant sure if you don't want what you ordered and a Shakesperean comedy of errors but hell no if you want a civilised meal! Go elsewhere is my recommendation! Nice waiting staff obviously poor kitchen staff if they can't deliver what was ordered!"
