"We were surprised this restaurant is rated 3rd of Tampico’s best. We hesitated to enter because the outside did not look the way we expected, but never the less gave it a try. We were welcomed by the chef that was incredibly friendly and nice. The place was empty for a Saturday afternoon, but we sat. Once on our table we noticed run down and torn wallpapers, not good for a restaurant interiorThe chef brought us the menu and said they had a buffet and being this our first time we decided to take a look. The buffet was on a separate room that smelled incredible. They had trout, chicken, osso bucco, lasagne, spinach cannelloni, and macaroni, vegetables, salad and potato cream. The chef suggested we had a taste of the buffet because that way we could try different dishes, and we agreed because everything smelled amazing. She first brought us the fresh lettuce and carrot salad and a bread basket and we were surprised she was bringing our dishes, so that was a change from regular buffet arrangements. Then she brought us plates with very item on the buffet. That was quite overwhelming because the plates were full of food, not a nice presentation, would have been better small plates with separate items especially because we were the only clients.The food is home cooked style, nothing fancy or pretentious, the osso bucco was the best of the dishes offered. Then she brought us the “flan”, sadly I have to say it lacked the creamy consistency a flan should have, not to mention the flavor.We can understand this may be in the first three places because for $150 Mexican pesos ($11 USD) per person customers can leave well stuffed, but being around a while and having visited other restaurants in Tampico, we must say that yes, this place has a friendly cook and the food is average, but not outstanding as to receive a 3rd place."

"During this trip to Tampico I was very lucky and enjoyed many good restaurants. However, Puerto Jaibo was hands-down the jewel in this culinary adventure.This restaurant is located close to Tampico's main avenue (Avenida Hidalgo), by the Parroquia del Rosario. It belongs to a culinary school, and is located in the first floor of the building. Parking is available (which is not common in Tampico) in the school's parking lot.The interior decoration is neutral, but nice and elegant. It has an interesting arrangement where you can actually see the personnel cooking your meals in the kitchen.They have a very interesting and complete cocktails lineup. I preferred to order one glass of white wine, which was very good.Now, regarding the food menu, I was amazed on how many attractive and different dishes they had. This varies from the traditional Tampico dishes (Carne a la Tampiqueña, Jaiba a la Frank) to very fresh and new suggestions.As appetizer, we had Queso Panela a la Plancha (Grilled Panela Cheese), that had a delicious sauce, and came with a bed of nopales.For entrée I had Camarones Puerto Jaibo, which had grilled shrimp in a jaiba (crab) sauce. The dish was such a beautiful sight and had an even better flavor.To close my lunch I had the Pan de Elote (corn bread) and I had never enjoyed one corn bread as I did this time.Attention was always courteous and on time.Prices were reasonable.I can hardly wait for my next visit to this extraordinary restaurant."

"My wie and I visited for a late lunch, thinking, looks attractive, lets try it. Turned out, I had one of the most favorable, tender steaks I've had in Tampico. My wife had tacos, and said they were super. We both had two of the...coldest beers in frosted mugs, (really great for a hot day). Service was outstanding, and the ambience was very enjoyable, and the prices were quite acceptable. We'll definitely go back."

"No es el mejor sushi que he comido en Tampico pero es bueno, el servicio es algo lento, fuimos en un día que solo había una mesa ocupada y aún así tardaron en servirnos. En general es un buen lugar, si volveríamos."

"Realmente este restaurante esta en mi top 5 de restaurantes en la zona, tu puedes pedir desde carne con enchiladas hasta cócteles de mariscos y todo esta delicioso. Es de esos restaurantes que sin dudar vas a regresar por algo que te quedo ganas. El estacionamiento esta algo limitado pues la gente que va es mucha y se llena muy fácilmente."

"You will find a resaturante with white tablecloths and first class service. a pleasant place for the groundbreaking lunch of 1:30 o'clock. the soße runs on the heavy side and the jazz band reminds her when her child learned to play the sax, but. it is the best (only) restaurant in the neighbourhood."
