"After a drive from the south to see the spectacular Viaduc and Pont de Millau, we dropped into Millau to find lunch. On the route into town I spotted Boulangerie/Pizzeria/Restaurant Victoire and we made a quick U turn to get back to their car park. A Modern Contemporary interior awaits, with mouthwatering sweet and savoury delicacies in plentiful supply. The Patron arrive and in English he said 'Firstly, I don't speak English', swiftly followed (as he walked away) by "Secondly I don't want to serve you". We thought Brexit has had a strange effect here, but the lady on the next table suggested he was joking. He returned smiling and proceeded to engage us in conversation and to recommend the formule of the day, which was a skewer (brochettes) of Beef with peppers and shallots accompanied by salad and house fries.The meal was delicious with fries home made, no McCains in sight. A glass of Rosé, a bottle of beer, a red fruit crumble and a giant chocolate Macaron and two coffees later the bill came to barely €30 and worth every penny. The Patron then proceeded to suggest, if we had the time, we should take a drive up the Gorge du Tarn to see the Vultures (apparently there are lots of them, usually very visible). We took his advice, but a little detour found us on a very tight track and after a small altercation between the side of a church and our car... we headed home without seeing a single vulture. I would also recommend that route though, as the scenery is spectacular. Just don't go off piste!"
