"The food here is GOOD. The Asian food scene is sadly lacking in New Haven, and buns n dumplings helps fill the dumpling-shaped hole in my tummy a little.I ordered take out with 2 friends and among the 3 of us, we ordered just enough food to finish everything and be stuffed. It took about 30 minutes for all the food to be prepared for us to pick up. The Shanghai soup dumplings were good in flavor, but unfortunately soup-less. They may have been prepared earlier than the other items in our order and while sitting in the container, the soup soaked into the wrappers. Similarly, the scallion pancakes were mildly warm and quite soggy/not crispy or flaky. It's likely they were made earlier too and sat in the container while everything else was prepared. The lotus leaf sticky rice, shumai, and fried dumplings were a HIT; we will definitely be ordering those again next time. The peanut noodles were okay. We had a lot of noodles for not a lot of sauce, so a lot of the noodles (especially at the bottom) were quite plain. I did really appreciate that there were actual peanuts in the dish and not just peanut sauce alone! The place is a tiny hole in the wall with one or two small tables at the front of the restaurant. I can't really see anyone dining in here, so I imagine it's mostly take out. Unfortunately, this does mean a lot of foods aren't eaten as soon as they are prepared--possibly leading to soupless soup dumplings and soggy scallion pancakes. 4/5 for the food; will definitely order from here again!"

"We made reservations for Sunday Brunch. The staff seemed ill prepared for us. We had to wait for some of our party to arrive but during this time, we initially weren't offered water or anything. We ordered drinks but only my son's soda arrived at the table. Once the rest of our party arrived college students what can you do? we were served by a young woman who didn't write down our orders and this concerned us. The food arrived correctly however the french toast was cold and the syrup was cold. However, my daughter's BEC sandwich was so hot that she couldn't pick it up and ended up having to take it home with her. My food arrived 10 minutes after the rest of the party. When one of our party asked for butter, she was presented with clarified liquid butter for her french toast. The atmosphere was very club like, loud music. Whilst we were sitting talking, the staff were moving the furniture around. Metal chairs on a concrete floor make for a very noisy reconfiguration. We received our bill and I suspect they realized that the service and food wasn't great since they didn't charge us for drinks. I have been told that the restaurant also serves as a club in the evening. My thoughts are that it is much more suited to be a club rather than a brunch place. I won't be visiting again."
