"We 're finally back in Nelson from Austin, Texas, USA, and wasted no time getting over to The Sands for our first fish and chips of 2014. YUM! Enjoyed sitting at the tables and bantering with Roy and Bruce, the owners, while munching on gluten-free silver trumpeter, a hot dog, hot chips, and Jenny 's favorite 'dessert, ' the corn pattie. Guys, we 'll be seeing you often over the next few months!"

"Very good choice of food, we bought a salad and some chips to go with some mercy we had. Another time we bought 2 very good seafood pizzas. On another occasion we bought fish and chips. All was beautifully cooked and the service was prompt."

"Good spot for a few beers. Soup was yummy when I went, although more bread would have been nice. But the piece I got was yummy also. I had a Speights mid ale, 2.5% beer, as I was driving, which was very nice also. I'm not a regular, but I will definitely go back again."

"What wonderful service we had from friendly staff! The food was delicious! I had heard about the seafood chowder absolutely one of the best in Nelson. Served with a delicious bread roll... I only ordered the small size and I was very satisfied with that! The rice dishes were great too crispy chicken or sticky prawns on point! The salads were simple but delicious with the ponzu dressing and mayonnaise... The fish platter had a great selection for two. We possibly ordered too much though. All of us were happy with our meals and were full before starting on the platter! My iced chocolate was a decadent way to end the meal with great company, nice atmosphere, perfect setting for a place to eat out on a special occasion..."
