"Steak was lovely, prawns weren't cleaned though, the black forest bomb was very over priced, not much in it and didn't taste of a lot. Service was nice but overall meal took 2 hours even though we only had 2 courses. Overall a nice atmosphere."

"Called for a drink and stayed for food! 10/10 for personal, service and eating. hubby has the stinger burger while he had the stacker! very tasty and very fillable! they win the hub from one of the 2 burgers. personal really nice and friendly we will come back soon! bonus added, but you will get a free on Thursday with burgers. next Thursday"

"We have eaten here before during Covid and felt very safe indeed due to the excellent social distance between the tables in the main dining room. As we were about to go into Tier 3 again, which means no restaurants can open, we swiftly booked a table before the lock down. We were offered both the a la carte menu and a Xmas menu. We went for the latter. We started with duck pate and chutney for me and crab cocktail for Barb very nice indeed. We then both had the braised ox cheek in a deep, rich sauce really gorgeous. We finished off with a custard tart for me and a passion fruit cheesecake for Barb lovely. Washed down with a fine Rioja. £99 including a 10% gratuity. A first class meal. Excellent cooking and effortless service. The time between courses was spot on. Overall a fine experience."

"New owners have done a stunning job of the interior decor and the new beer garden. Lovely, welcoming staff and a great atmosphere. Went on curry night and the food was fantastic. So glad to see our beautiful pub getting the love she deserves!!! Sounds like there will be some great entertainment too!"

"I had stopped going to the Anchor for a few years but I was pleasantly surprised at the choice of menu this time. The food was very good and the surroundings very comfortable. A great improvement to how I remembered it. I will certainly be visiting again soon."
