"It wouldn't have been my choice to go, but I was an invited party. However, there were plenty of tables for a walk in and the staff were friendly and welcoming. A pint to start. A peroni and a pale ale £11.50 (I nearly fell over! The salad bar at a Harvester is always good to be fair, and I had a small dish, my companions filled theirs. We all started with DEEP fried breaded mushrooms with garlic dip (really nice For my main I chose chilli non carne (vegetarian I had 2 forkfulls and left it (wrong choice Denise had chicken stack (she left the majority said it was dry and Liz had roast half chicken (cleared her plate all generously portioned Dessert Liz had vegetarian icecream with strawberry sauce. Both Denise and I had the Rocky horror browny sundaes (far too much browny again generously portion There was difficulty in splitting our bill, because we all wanted to pay separately. Cheaply priced at under £20 a head for 3 courses. There was a steady flow of customers to be fair"

"I initially emailed to ask for a reservation and had no reply so had to ring four days later. We went here for Sunday lunch on 27.08.23. The setting was lovely and relaxed. Our food arrived well presented both with very small gravy boats and we were told to ask if we wanted more gravy!! My veggie meal was plated with the boiled and roast potatoes under the burger type roast and smothered in gravy. The gravy was thick, rich and very tangy which left an awful taste on my tongue for ages. I asked my boyfriend how his meal was and he replied, “Quantity over quality,” and said the best thing on his plate was the ball of stuffing!!! When our plates were taken away I was not asked why my food was hardly touched and the waiter looked at my partner to ask if he wanted dessert and avoided all eye contact with me. For a man to notice I wasn’t acknowledged it quite something hahaha. I will not return. The Angel is only a couple of miles from where I live and when we got to our local pub afterwards everyone told us they knew the food was rubbish."

"First time visiting after hearing the Sunday lunch was great. Firstly the good points, staff were friendly and the roast beef was excellent and pricing reasonable. Apart from that everything was mediocre. Peas and carrots are about the cheapest vegetables available and even they arrived overcooked and lukewarm. The cauliflower cheese also had the whitest sauce imaginable and definitely had no cheese in it. Starters of prawn cocktail and pate were quite nice as was the chocolate sponge dessert, but I wouldn’t rush back. When I eat out I naively expect a professional chef to provide a meal which is better than I can cook myself."

"Hunters Lodge is a fantastic, friendly environment that serves good food and good drinks. As someone that comes weekly, the atmosphere is always welcoming and relaxed. Would highly recommend stopping by if passing, and definitely try the profiteroles! The staff are amazing, friendly and always smiling, always a pleasure coming down!"
