"Every venue/ whatever starts with 5 ! We had regularly visited the Chase between 2016 and 2021 when we moved away. Definitely a for us. Lovely couple running it, fabulous scenery from the patio, well kept bear and lovely food. Today, we detoured specifically to visit for old times' sake; it appears the Chase is under new management. . Welcoming friendly staff. . Still a good beer. But: the food has really gone downhill. Two issues today, first off one meal we ordered from the menu turned from bear battered scampi to backed scampi with cajun sauce on salad. We did query and the waitress admitted there was a typo on the menu and kindly offered to get some battered scampi. Not good really as the rest of us had got our meals already. secondly, and this is the really dodgy bit, the food was really bad, I'm not a picky person and have never returned a meal, they really need to employ someone who can cook. I had fish and chips, most of which were inedible due to gross overcooking of both the fish and the chips. No excuse for this, they weren't even particularly busy (maybe word has got around). Really, really disappointing meal for us all."

"A great pub to finish a walk around the downs with. A wide varied menu, which amongst the 9 of our party had a wide selection of and all were delicious and generous portions. Alex behind the bar was very welcoming, friendly and hospitable. This is our 2nd visit during each of the last two Feb half terms and won’t hesitate to return"

"A group of eight of us went for a celebratory meal. From the moment we walked through the door to the end of the night everything was exemplary. The warm welcome from the landlord Richard, excellent local ales from Wye Valley was followed by a truly excellent meal. A variety of main courses were served, including perfectly cooked Sirloin steaks, a Lamb Shank to die for a superb Vegetarian Curry, all prepared wonderfully by Steve the very experienced chef. Desserts including Sticky Toffee Cake, Blueberry Roulade and Profiteroles followed and again everyone was absolutely delighted with their offerings. All through the meal we were served by two delightful young ladies Janet and Annabelle. Thoroughly recommend"

"Appreciated the option of having Alpro oat milk in my mocha which was very nice and at the right temperature and stayed warm whilst I drank it. Hubby enjoyed his hot chocolate and his bacon brie and cranberry toastie. Nice he said. I thought my...cheese and tomato toastie (panini bread) with sesame seeds was gorgeous. Toasties came with French fries and salad in a very strong vinaigrette. Very clean with tables sanitised in between customers. Happy staff."

"Greeted and welcomed by a friendly guy (guessing the top boss) Sadly my starter was cold but not an issue it was taken away with a multitude of options. Main Course well where do I start. Belly pork rib absolutely to die for, melt in the mouth and what a size. Lasagna was tasty and plentiful. Pudding was oversize but beautiful Very friendly atmosphere and great team of staff. Keep up the great service all"

"A great and tasty meal. The welcome by the Manager (Joanne..I think her name was) was very welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. The burger was very tasty and my Nepalese Chicken curry was absolutely divine. Presented beautifully and the chicken was so tender and the taste remarkable. Great meal and great service…what more is needed..??"

"We stopped in for a drink while staying in Ledbury. Small quaint pub serving quite a few ales and lagers. Some gins but not the mainstream ones. Interesting to see but limited space to sit. It serves food as well but we didn’t try it"
