"Short review. Strange location when approached in the evening- Chifley Plaza in Sydney is deserted, looks like a mall all glass and tiles and escalators. Decor of restaurant matches the plaza. However the service is very good, the sashimi is excellent as were the eel and scallop nigiri. They offer many meat and tempura dishes but we just had the seafood based offerings and all were superb.

A side note for budding magicians: Beer in thick large mugs with glass walls so thick the actual beer volume is around 150ml! But the large mug gives you the impression of plenty. Quite the illusion."

"Makoto is a popular sushi bar in World Square which serves a smorgasbord of ngiri, sushi and side dishes through conveyor belts. During my visit three weeks ago, my girlfriend and I helped myself to the spicy tuna sushi (wasn't expecting a cooked tuna), unagi ngiri, chawanmushi and an unagi sushi roll (Yup, I love unagi).

Like majority of sushi chains in Sydney, the restaurant fail to notice the importance of rolling, compressing and slicing and provide proper training for their chefs to prepare the sushi. Ingredients weren't the freshest with an occasional tinge of musty and stagnant odour emitting from the sushi. Thankfully my unagi roll was delectable and tasty. Poor darling ????????"

"I have to say we have made it a little over a week in Australia before finding a restaurant with food and wine that tastes like and the staff apparently"

"Scampi linguine is yummy though I feel scampi could be better it's a bit plain to me. Lobster noodle doesn't have enough lobster taste as I expected and lobster meat was slightly under cooked to me but overall it's still good. Lasagnette Al pesto is my favorite of the meal. Kids love the plain bread with butter!"

"This is a busy restaurant between midday and 1.00pm, with lots of takeaways. After 1.00 pm, the place filters out and a table for 2 is possible. Visited on Tuesday afternoon with my regular dining companion. We ordered the very popular Salmon & Avocado on cold, Green Tea Cha, Soba Salad ($14) with its raw salmon and a good quantity of sauce; and the ever popular, King Prawn & Vegetable Tempura Donburi (on Rice) with a bowl of Miso Soup ($12.50). Both were delicious and flavoursome. We washed our meals down with a glass of Asahi Draft Beer and a glass of Coke Zero. My friend ate her meal down to the last leaves, which is quite good for her and I left only a little rice. We were both very pleased with our meals. The staff were friendly and efficient and the meals were served smartly. The time ran down quickly and as we finished our meal we left, and looking back, I note our table had been cleared and wiped, very efficiently. A great place for a working day lunch and highly recommended. My friend suggested that we return next week to try something else. Sounds good to me!"

"All the food at Ash Street Cellars is nice but a little unsubstantial, perhaps a bit too simple in nature. Don’t get me wrong, I would certainly return. What Ash Street Cellars is good for is probably a ‘ladies lunch’ or a ’post work’ catch up with a girlfriend where you want a delicate nibble and a gossip. It would probably also meet the ‘first date’ brief fairly well when one is keen on meals that are too substantial."
