"We had been on the way at first juni 2015 with a small motorcycle group in st. gilgen and wanted to refresh ourselves in the sea. the beach bath recommended to us by locals mocks every description. we received a kartoffe painter, partly framed with bauzaun!?. a possibility to move or even toilets are here in vain. there should be a need to re-improve! so it came that we had to misuse the local beach bath for our shops. of course not without taking our dinner in the beautiful beer garden. it is located directly on the road, but it is not at all a bit, because it is located about 300 metres from the town centre and it is quiet there. Our food was freshly prepared, warm (which is unfortunately not stable) and was served quickly and friendly. Here a steak-toast and the wild salmon marvelled with excellent taste and as an eye-catcher. the prices can be called, measured with other local local, really fair and cheap. The one also took time for a small chat and was assisting with tools for a small repair. In fact, this restaurant would get from the biker crew oberpfalz 10 points.......St. gilgen has at least been to thank these wetsleuten that we were not to thank. from the top"

"Arrived for dinner with no reservation at 7pm but was seated immediately. This is the oldest hotel in the village dating back to the 15tj century so has a charming exterior. On the inside it is rather plain but tables were set well. By 8.15pm the rest of the tables were occupied. My partner had a white wine which was ok but not amazingWe had the bread to start for 2. On the menu it has a price of €3.50 for this but beware as this appears to be the price per person as we found out later, not per portion of the bread. This was not clarified on the menu. The white crusty bread was nice but we are not fans of rye bread. This came with a goats cheese and herb dip as well as unsalted butter. For mains we had the fried char from the nearby Fuschl lake and fried lamb. Both dishes were very tasty although the lamb was bordering on being tough even though it still had a bit of pink showing. My partner felt that the char was the best main he had had in Austria so far although if you choose this be aware that it has many fine bones in it. The gratin that came as a side with the lamb was quite salty and could have done with being cooked for a bit longer as the sliced potatoes were still a tad crunchy. We shared the toblerone torte which was very good. Our bill came up to €69 before tips for a glass of wine, some tap water, the bread, two mains, and a dessert. The service was good with a waitress who spoke good English so we gave a tip at the end. This was the priciest meal we have had after 7 days of being in Austria, and whilst good, was not the most delicious. We have had a better tasting meal costing significantly less in an upmarket restaurant in Vienna. This may have something to do with this being a touristy area and the hotel's history."

"Had a nice evening in a traditional Austrian top-class restaurant. Dishes have an international touch. Menu prices are ideal for the food sections. Food is presented very appealingly (have a look at the pictures) ... Christof is a great host!"
