"It is located on ski pistes. Very good value for money, decent portions. Self-service only. We've had best germknödel (a traditional fluffy yeast dough dumpling, filled with spicy plum jam and served with melted butter and a mix of poppy seeds and sugar on...top) in whole Gastein here and it was only Also, apfelstrudel was very good here, cost with cream and with vanilla sauce."

"Wir waren zum Ende unseres Urlaubs in Bad Hofgastein zum Essen in der Lafener Stubn und wurden sehr freundlich und herzlich von der Chefin empfangen und bedient.Das von uns gewählte regionale Essen, wie Rindersuppe mit Kaspressknödel, Cordonbleu und Kasnocken war ein wahrer Genuss und auch reichlich.Den absoluten Gaumenkitzler bildete das Salzburger Nockerl zum Dessert.Das war der Hammer.Wir kommen beim nächsten Aufenthalt in Bad Hofgastein gerne wieder zum Essen und können die Lafener Stubn nur empfehlen."

"Wir waren in 2014 und 2015 jeweils einmal zu Abendessen im Steindlwirt. Leider müssen wir festhalten, dass die Qualität sich weiter verschlechtert hat und wir keinen weiteren Besuch mehr vornehmen werden. Bekannt ist uns das Restaurant aus vielen Besuchen in früheren Jahren (2004 ff) und hierbei war es eines unserer Favoriten. Ursprünglich, gutes Ambiente, dörflich, nette Bedienung, Speisenauswahl sehr ansprechend, Qualität einwandfrei - es lud zum Wiederkommen ein. In 2014 waren wir schon etwas verwundert, denn die Anzahl der Speisen war zurückgegangen, die Qualität gegenüber den früheren Jahren schlechter. Aber noch akzeptabel. In 2015 wurden wir bitter enttäuscht. Der (wegen Urlaubsbeginn) bestellte Prosecco war ohne jegliches Leben. Die Anzahl der angebotenen Speisen war weiter merklich zurückgefahren - die in der Homepage angepriesenen Schmankerl waren nicht zu finden. Das bestellte Essen war geschmacklich teilweise zu beanstanden. Es fehlte an Gewürzen (nicht nur Salz oder Pfeffer), das Fleisch recht trocken, gerade noch warm. Wir haben die Beanstandungen dem Kellner natürlich gesagt. Die Entschädigung in Form eines Schnaps aber dankend abgelehnt. Wir waren sehr enttäuscht!"

"We stopped here on our way up the waterfall walk, and were not disappointed. The cafe is set slightly above the town and has beautiful views over the town and valley. Having read previous reviews, we ordered the Heidelbeertopfenstrudel and Heidelbeermilch. It was perhaps the best Topfenstrudel we've ever had. Each piece was absolutely huge and could easily have fed 2 people, and it only cost 2,70€. The Heidelbeermilch was also great.The only disappointment was the radio playing Austrian 'pop' music out on the terrace, which kind of spoiled the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. Will definitely visit again."

"This looks like a lovely cafe - cool decor and very clean. However the waitress was quite unfriendly - not sure if that's because her English was limited but then we were in her country so why weren't we speaking German more?! Anyway - her manner was unfriendly and she didn't smile once. However the male (manager?) was lovely and courteous. The food was ok though our 2yr old son's 'children's' size penne pasta dish was huge and only 1 euro less than adult size so half of it was wasted as it was too much for him. It was also mostly pasta and very little bolognese sauce. My trout main was nice but very buttery."

"Hamnade här för en lunch. Typisk österrikisk meny. Tog en kalvgryta, innehöll 3 små köttbitar för 12 EUR. Påpekade för servitrisen som tyckte antalet köttbitar var rimligt. Barnen tog Wienerschnitzel, fläskkött, som var acceptabel. Inte vårt förstaval om vi besöker Bad Hofgastein igen."

"Locale in piazza della Chiesa che non tradisce mai sia per la cucina aperta anche in orari i soliti sia per l'ottima qualità. Abbiamo.cenato fuori fronte piazza. Ottimo servizio anche con qualche parola di italiano. Ottima la Bauern Salad. Consigliato."
