"While the interior of this restaurant is quite attractive without being distinctive, I preferred to sit at the terrace, which is the hallmark of this place. It provides a marvelous view over the valley and the town of Bruck an der Mur. Although at least two thirds of the totality of seats inside and outside were empty, I had to wait for a quarter of an hour to receive a menu and to be asked for a drink, which took further ten minutes to be served. This was a real nuisance and I saw other guests being affected by this extremely slow service too. Evidently, there was only a single waiter on duty, who tried his best, but could not cope with the number of guests present. The rather limited standard menu, which was complemented by two dishes of the day, comprised almost exclusively classics of the Austrian cuisine, no specialties or particularly creative dishes. It was dominated by many variants of schnitzel, all of which cost roughly 10 euros. Vegetarians would have to be content with a salad platter because this was the only main course on the menu suitable for them. The time from ordering to receiving my meal was also fairly long, but not excessive. I found the roast turkey salad quite good, though the meat was a bit too salty for my liking. In my opinion, this restaurant is of an average price level in view of the food offered, the enormous portion sizes and the ambience of this place. The reference that the name of this restaurant makes to heaven does not seem to stem from heavenly performance, but solely from the somewhat advanced altitude at which it is located. Note that Himmelwirt is basically a lunch restaurant because the kitchen closes already when the evening breaks."

"Best carpaccio I've had. Meat was very full of flavor! In addition, a steak tartare also with perfect texture and fresh meat taste. Waiter was very friendly, despite the fact that we only arrived at 21.50 and the kitchen closed at 22.00, we were able to choose something at our leisure. Nice restaurant very big, which you can't see from the garden. Prices are reasonable."
