But in this restaurant I was totally disappointed by the taste which was not up to the mark as mentioned in many reviews.The quantity was sufficient but not quality and the price. "“Gasthaus Falkenberg” is pleasantly located at the edge of a forest. It is surrounded by a garden throughout which tables were dispersed. Due to the bright day and the warm September sun, we decided like most guests to sit outside. This was preferable because the...interior, though quite nicely furbished, was a bit somber due the smallness of the windows. At the permanent menu, this restaurant was designated as “Schloss Falkenberg”, i.e. Falkenberg castle, which may be formally correct but nonetheless a bit exaggerated. To emphasize this heritage, this menu, made up of only a single page, had the form of a medieval document roll. However, the content of the menu revealed that in contrast to all that “Gasthaus Falkenberg” actually is an ordinary plain restaurant. It focused on cold snacks as well as cakes and other desserts, whereas there were only about ten main courses at the menu. For the most part, they were classics of the Austrian cuisine, complemented by several kinds of vegetarian filled pasta, typical of the Carinthian cuisine. The main courses corresponded to what one may expect of a plain restaurant, but did not excel in any respect. Leathery edges of filled pasta indicated that it had apparently been reheated in a microwave oven rather than in hot water. This place seems to specialize primarily in desserts given that ours were much more convincing than the main courses. Portions were of sufficient sizes and prices appeared appropriate to us."

"Dined here both nights we stayed in Klagenfurt as it was included with our room. The restaurant has a lot of things going for it. It has amazing views over the city and surrounding mountains, especially at sunset. Music is playing in the background, you dine by candle light, and they have patio umbrellas so you are covered in case of any sprinkles. Service was professional, friendly, and helpful. As we didn't speak any German they very helpful in explaining the menu options. The first night we started with tomato soup which was ok. I had the Pork chops with bacon and mushroom gravy which was excellent and my wife had the cheese pasta dish which she wasn't that crazy about. Both nights we had access to the salad bar which had different options each night and was very good. On the second night we had the cream of celery soup which was better than the tomato soup and we both had the pork which came out on a cutting board still on the bone and a knife sticking out of it. It was great although a challenge to cut up. For desert we had an apple pastry which was full of cinnamon and the second night we had a cup of pudding with berries and cream which was great. We washed everything down with cold beer at 3.40 euro each. There is also plenty of parking and there was a play area on the side for kids. The restaurant sits up above these areas and is very romantic. We would highly recommend."
