"Vor genau 5 Jahren war ich zum ersten Mal im Hotzenplotz und gehe seitdem regelmäßig hin. Die Portionen sind immer großzügig und lecker. Das dazu passende Kölsch wird unbemerkt und in schneller Taktung aufgefüllt. Die Bedienungen sind auf Zack und mir und meiner Frau wurde noch nie ein Extrawunsch abgeschlagen. Die neue (monatlich wechselnde) Karte bietet für jeden Geschmack etwas, auch für mich als Teilzeitvegetarier und orientiert sich stark an saisonalen und regionalen Zutaten.Fazit: immer gerne und jederzeit wieder"

"This is an astonishing restaurant, packed out and efficient(but in a friendly way!) Goose is the speciality for this time of the year and we were also guided by our friends to have the steak tartare and black pudding starter as an introduction to a typical German meal. Well, the steak tartare was just superb and the black pudding came with a schnapps shot, so another enjoyable first for us! The goose was by far the best I've had. This is a hugely successful restaurant that probably does not need my glowing report but as everyone on the team is working hard for it to be a 'local' and 'typical' venue, I just want to say that if you have the opportunity to go.....do!"

"We were in the area and decided to stop in and give it a try. Me and my friends have all had Ethiopian before, but it has been awhile, so the waitress just brought us a large platter for 4, it was delicious. I highly recommend just getting a large platter if you are not a picky eater and want to try a bit of everything. They will make it to your specific spice preference. Additionally, the beer was quite good and went very well with the meal. I would definitely eat here again."

"Wir haben uns vorher die Speisekarte auf der Homepage angeschaut und dort hatten uns einige Gerichte angesprochen so das wir beschlossen haben dort essen zu gehen.Bei schönem Wetter sitzen wir gerne draußen und da der Mühlenhof einen Biergarten hat wollten wir diesen gerne genießen . Dann fing das Desaster an, die Speisekarte im Biergarten ist leider viel kleiner wie die normale Speisekarte und es gibt auch keine Änderungen zu der normalen Speisekarte.Also mussten wir uns entscheiden entweder im Restaurant mit der größeren Auswahl oder draußen sitzen mit der kleineren Auswahl.Wir haben uns dann für draußen entschieden. Nachdem wir unsere Bestellung getätigt hattenJägerschnitzel Filetsteak mit einem kleinen Salatwarteten wir . Mittlerweile kamen immer mehr Gäste und nach 45 Minuten hatten wir immer noch nichts zu essen . Um so verwunderter waren wir , das die Gäste die eine halbe Stunde nach uns kamen ihr Essen vor unserem serviert bekommen haben. Das war dann zu viel und wir waren stinksauer ,haben die Rechnung verlangt und sind dann gegangen. Uns wird man in diesem Restaurant nicht mehr als Gäste begrüßen dürfen ."

"This place makes a trip to Cologne worthwhile just to eat here. We had the best weiner schnitzel we have ever eaten. It was very flat and well cooked, their specialty. The pepper steak's sauce was prepared at table side. The photos tell the story...better than I can. The location is slightly outside of Cologne city center but a quick tram or U-Bahn ride. Service is great. They can speak enough English so you can get by. Prices are reasonable and very good value for money. We look forward to returning to Cologne just so that we can eat here again."

"If you want to meet the locals, go the Försterstube: almost every evening/night the pub is crowded with locals that gather for a drink and/or a meal. Food isn 't that sophisticated, but large portions of German dishes are guaranteed. Location is easy to find near train station Ehrenfeld and motor way A57. The Rinderrouladen was well prepared ... The Kölsch good as always!"
