"Went for lunch with some family members. Ordered oysters and onion rings. Oysters were nice and fresh. Chicken schnitzel was great value for money couldn't eat the whole thing. Great burger selection on menu, cheeseburger was delicious. Definitely be back."

"We were attending a travel expo held at the Panthers Club and decided to have lunch downstairs at the club bistro. The bistro is neat and basically presented. The menu is typical of many club bistro offerings and the prices were very affordable. You join the queue to make and pay for your order and then wait for your meal to be ready and picked up from the counter or delivered by staff if they are available. Seating and tables are typical basic club furniture. Practical, serviceable and reasonably comfortable. The bar is nearby for those seeking to have an affordable beverage with their meal. The club décor is deplorable and shabby and what was a once proud premier club of Newcastle is in our view, a dive. Because of the large patronage on this day, bistro service was understandably slow. When they did arrive our meals were ample in size and presentation and of acceptable quality. With many excellent clubs, pubs and eateries to pick from in Newcastle, Panthers Newcastle is not likely to be on our future choice list."

"We spent two nights in Newcastle recently and had a meal at the Star Hotel on our first night. The decor is inviting, the staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious, so much so that we went back for our last...night in Newcastle. The staff were also very knowledgeable about the dietary requirements for coeliac disease"

"It is soouu good to go to a place that is so honestly relaxing. the menu is not huge, but attractive portions price are great. weather it is a business lunch or tee or with the children shortly after the beach they always feel welcome. never rushed. cafe heart is a good thing, the culture of personal management is very refreshing."

"The food is nice, but that's where the experience ends.As they don't accept eftpos, I can see no reason they should not split bills. They do not have several eftpos transactions to pay for, and they use pen and paper for taking orders. No computer systems needed. When paying, however, we were asked to pay all in one transaction. The woman at the counter said this is because other restaurants don't split bills (yet they accept eftpos). I was asked, in a belligerent manner, if I would have paid for the entire group if they DID have eftpos.Eventually, very reluctantly, she allowed us to pay separately, but as this was a needlessly embarrassing encounter, I will not be back... Even though their food is good. There are plenty of other options for delicious Italian food in Newcastle suburbs to have to endure such poor service here again."
