"We took a visitor from London who equally loves Russian food and this made for a great start to a night of uni nostalgia as we were transported to a wonderful St Petersburg-esque atmosphere. There is no where quite like it for me in Cologne.They really have paid close attention to detail. The decor reminds us of the restaurant's namesake's study and the menu has a good range of Russian classics, hearty meat dishes or simple fare as well as some vegetarian options. Different budgets are also reflected so you can make this as special or as economical as desired which is great.We tried the starters for two or three people with Beluga vodka (but they also have two levels of Russian Standard) the ox tongue - which just melted in my mouth - pelmeni and three medallions of different meats and asked the waitress to help us with dessert. All excellent. The service was courteous and unintrusive and the atmosphere intimate. Quite a special place and can't wait to try more of their menu."
