"On balance I am giving Broomhall Castle a very generous two rating. We stayed for 5 nights and on the plus side the staff are all hard working and friendly. Courtenay in particular was such fun at breakfast time. On the negative side this “castle” is in need of a huge dose of TLC. Returning to our room after our first day it had not been made up. In fairness they did that while we were at dinner and gave us drinks on the house. We were impressed. After that their idea of servicing our room was to throw the duvet back into the bed without straightening the base sheet; and that was all they did. The coffee cups and glasses were never cleaned or replaced. The towels were left as they lay. The arrival biscuits were replaced just once. Our room was never cleaned. All the surfaces were thick with dust and the furniture looked like it all came from a charity shop. Our final bill was just being told how much we owed with no paperwork or breakdown !! Despite its somewhat dour outlook this could be a good place to stay particularly as all the staff try so hard but the owners were never seen during our stay."
