"Our group has come to the Royal on the water for many years, the last time in March. As we all know, a lot has happened in the hospitality industry since March. At the Royal, regular employees seem to have been replaced by very young, almost work experience people. In this way the administration was forced due to the Covid pandemic, but it certainly leads to an unusual lunch. The work that paid for what was laborious and confusing at the end of the meal. Not as pleasant an experience as in the past. Food quality also slipped a bit."

"Well it's probably time for a fresh review because my experiences have not been like the negative reviews below at all.<br>

The Ariston is a family run lunch bar with reasonable prices and service with a smile. The staff make a genuine effort to learn the names of regulars and you can tell this just by sitting down for half an hour and watching them greet people at the counter.<br>

Their Curry Egg sandwiches are very nice and the Burger with the lot is also recommended.<br>
<br>
Don't expect anything in the way of decor and you'll struggle to fit any more than three to a table, but if you live/work nearby and want good, honest lunch bar food then don't let the old reviews below deter you from visiting this place."

"We had a family get together here and ate all the way across the menu. Seafood, pork, duck, rice, noodles and vegetarian were ordered and consumed until we cleared the table.Presentation was exceptional. They dishes looked like works of art on platters when they arrived. The rooms are traditionally decorated and very impressive.All the staff we interacted with were helpful and the meals arrived promptly."

"We come here a lot! Each time, the last is better - and always the same excellent value. We highly recommend the drunken noodles and any of the curries. Staff are friendly, and it is BYO with convenient BWS right across the road. Highly recommended!!"

"Worst dimsum ever! Should've known and walked out when there were no other customers in sight (except 3 people sitting on a large table who looked like they were waiting for other guests to arrive but left not long after we were seated)! Despite being the only table, service was extremely slow. What an embarrassment! Food arrived slow and tasted worse than the frozen dimsums I get from Chinese grocers! If you want to serve frozen dimsum, at least choose quality ones, they're not expensive to buy! Prices are ridiculous for such poor quality food. <br>

This restaurant needs to shut down and be saved before it looks anymore ridiculous! Seriously! Sorry for the negative review but it must be said and something must be done if you want to win customers!"
