"Since my last review, a few things have changed. The previous manager has left and the resteraunt is now managed again by the Hofers, and they have a new chef. They have an uncanny ability to employ the most amazing chefs and staff, as the...food is outstanding as always, and the bar staff are never still (either serving drinks and food, washing glasses or cleaning the bar area , and are a credit to the resteraunt. We tend to eat here most nights when we visit, whether that be an delicious full meal on NYE, the most succulent ribs with friends, or a fantastic thin crust pizza if it's just myself the wife. I have to recommend the chestnut soup which, at the risk or sounding cliche, is to die for. It has always been delicious and I have tasted nothing like it outside of Hofers, but dare I say it, the new chef has improved on it. They never cease to amaze me with their amazing food or hospitality. Long may it continue :"

"We were eating with our 2 sons at the zenzerwirt on Friday evening. the nice chef kellner offered us a beautiful eckish in the stubborn. another waiter took up our order, the drinks were jerking there. Unfortunately we had studied the menus too long, so we probably grew up with it. we have been treated as snippish or ignored. eating was served by 2 more, extremely polite, waiters at the same time...top. the two have also brought us the missing 2. the medaillons of my wife were perfect, the nice very good. Unfortunately, the sosse tasted a little bit like gulaschsuppe. my grill plate also had the great vegetables, the 3 pieces of meat were too dry. the steak and salate of my older sohnes was neat/prima. the children's companion of my younger sohnes was very, very small. overall, the local one left behind a growing impression. I would have liked to give 4 stars but some things when eating but above all the unharmed waiter nr. 3 have prevented this."

"Für uns als Familie ist es schon schwierig, dass in einem Restaurant alle zufriedengestellt werden, vor allem nicht über einen Zeitraum von einer Woche. Unsere älteste Tochter hat mehrere Lebensmittelallergien, die Mama ist seit 25 Jahren überzeugte Vegetarierin, die jüngste Tochter isst wirklich nicht sehr viele Dinge und für Papa gehört ein gutes Stück Fleisch oder Fisch dazu.Der Küchenchef im Berggasthof Gerlosstein hatte also keine leichte Aufgabe, zumal es die besondere Lage des Hotels es mit sich bringt, dass es auch keine Ausweichmöglichkeiten gibt ( ohne mit der Gondel aufwendig ins Tal zu fahren).Die Aufgabe uns zufrieden zu stellen hat er nun 3 Jahre hintereinander vorzüglich gelöst (alleine, dass wir wiedergekommen sind zeigt das) und wir freuen uns schon auf das hervorragende Essen im nächsten Jahr!Besonders hervorheben möchte ich, dass es auch für unsere Allergikerin täglich leckere Gerichte und Nachspeisen gab, was bei Allergien gegen Ei, Nuss, Weizen und Milch nicht einfach ist!"

"Went to the Steakhouse a couple of times during our week in Mayrhofen. The drinks are a reasonable price and table service quick. On our last night we had a meal there and it was very tasty. Would eat there again."

"We have been here before and it continued to live up to expectations. In fact we went twice. Great old building - oldest in Mayrhofen and off the beaten track.Traditional Austrian food and just such a refreshing change from pizza and burgers!The restaurant has changed hands but is non e the worse for it."
