"La Safraniere offers local specialities with a Mediterranean twist the chef knows all about flavours. A beef carpaccio included crushed olives as well as slivers of a local sheep's cheese. Trout is a speciality, both fresh and smoked. Guinea fowl (probably the best I've ever tasted) came with a compote of fennel, artichoke hearts and dried tomatoes which was to die for, as was the potato puree liberally laced with olive oil. A creme brulee with a hint of lavender came with a strawberry sorbet that was bursting with flavour. Service was professional and not rushed. The setting is delightful, in a small village within easy reach of Mende (a very attractive town in its own right). But it's small, so be sure to book. They also offer a traiteur service, which could be a good option if you were in a gite or camping in the vicinity."

"Based on a single visit: A small bar-brasserie neighborhood ... The decor not quite terrible, however in the plate these good, even very good. We took the menu of the day. The salmon quiche, the pork cheek confite with its potatoes and the pear pie were very good, well seasoned, fresh, homemade and the bill is very contained. Anyway, very nicely surprised. And the waiter is very nice."
