"Situated along the hustling Forest Road, The YM House is a popular go-to for dinners and desserts. The interior is small but cosy. Friends and I were honoured to have this place all to ourselves for a Boxing Day Dégustation. You can find a variety of dishes from their set menus including common Cantonese choices and other rarer selections that satisfy those with more demanding tastebuds. I am sure their friendly staff will be able to make some outstanding recommendations. We were most excited to try their famous Sautéed Pork Intestines with Hot Pepper, though I have to say, this isn’t for the faint-hearted. The ingredients almost dissolve immediately in your mouth. All the flavours were balanced nicely and definitely a must-try for those who feels adventurous!The sweet and sour pork was served on an emptied pineapple and was filled with goodness. It was also surprisingly filling! Deep fried pork topped with the unique sauce alongside the refreshing tastes of pineapples, this dish will not disappoint.Other dishes we had include the Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables, Steamed Chicken with Salt Ginger, Sautéed Chinese Broccoli and Salted Fish and Eggplant en Casserole. All these dishes were rich in flavour. One thing to definitely cover is the renowned desserts. Instead of ordained and premade menu offerings, YM House takes their time to prepare one of the best Hong Kong style desserts around Sydney. It is difficult to witness perfection comes together from a mixture of ingredients like mango, sago, herbal jelly, red bean, durian and coconut milk. The most valuable aspect is that all the ingredients are freshly prepared. This was a great meal and we’ll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes and desserts!"
