"Unhelpful waitress didn’t tell us they were out of fish when we sat down, so when 2 of us tried to order it we were left disappointed. I then asked for a half portion of the ham egg chips and was told they can’t make it smaller. I queried this and they said it is ‘made up in portions.’ My grandma ordered it anyway and I had something from the small appetite menu. However, when hers came, it was 2x slices of ham, 2x eggs and a load of chips how was it not possible to half?? Management are also poor at customer service which explains why the staff are too. We had been avoiding here since my mum left a clearly branded designer scarf at her table a few months ago. When she phoned to ask if they had it, she was told they did and they’d keep it in the managers office until she collected. She went to collect the next day and it had mysteriously disappeared with management saying that staff go in and out all the time so they’re not sure who has stolen it! Our visit yesterday only confirmed that we won’t be back. Such a shame!"

"Simple, but such an effective idea. great mood. they use it as a main or simple as a desert place as we did. cheese, meat, bread and wine alcohol. unreal! choose the size of their plate, 6, 10 or more combinations of cheese and meat or go for a meal platter with cake and other tasty options. they offer 'flights' that allow them to three types of wein (the same type), whiskys, ports etc. to go with the food. huge selection of cheese, smoked and camembert as personal favorite, but so many to choose. friendly staff to help them get the food and drink their mouthwater for when they're in there."

"My absolute favorite restaurant. such friendly helpful cheerful staff, fabulous menu, I can never understand what to have. beautifully presented and delicious food. we sat outside on this hot and sunny day under the huge brandy. highly recommended for eating, ambiente and large service. "Parking is quite convenient, though on a sunny weekend we had arrived by 9am which was adequate to ensure availability of parking. By the time that we left at 11am, there wasn 't really much parking left. We had breakfast, which isn 't really what Rick Stein 's is about (that 's seafood), but it is a restaurant with a good deal of visual drama of dining in the restaurant area with the 'Harbour View '. Certainly, climbing up the stairs and passing the kitchen to be greeted with the view of the harbour is fantastic. There weren 't any real complaints about the food, which were all very good ingredients. The coffee was good and the brewed coffee offered complimentary refills. The bloody mary was really good. The children were catered for on the same menu and they seemed to scoff their food too ages ranged from four to thirteen! For me, the pick of the dishes was the crab omelette, a must have. Service... they were all very nice and professional but had a tendency to gaze downwards rather than scanning the room, a personal pet peeve. Overall, it 's certainly a lovely place to be on a sunny Sunday morning and I would visit for lunch next time."
