"Food was good, felt like this place has existed for some time, judging by the food. Enjoyed the sizzler and grilled seafood. Staff were friendly and helpful. No cigarette shops nearby so recommend bringing your own. Crème brulee was good too."

"Not sure how overall ratings are low but I had amazing time here which led me to visit this place twice in 3 days. First of all, ambiance is very relaxing which helps in easing in. Special mention to the staff who are delight to interact and very courteous. Coming to food, their house bread and dip combination is killing it. Apart from this, we've had Babycorn fingers which was served with balsamic vinegar dip...yum.....Thai red curry with rice, again a marvelous dish and Aubergine Parmigiana....good one. "We visited this place to try some French dishes. It's like being in a grand palace, a restaurant with various seating areas - outside, AC restaurant and bar. We should even visit the innovative washroom here, which has a washbasin that can be operated on foot. Interesting! :) <br>

We ordered French onion soup - not sure if it is the authentic French soup but if so I would suggest not to try. It's just herbal water with sliced onions. The cheese crouton was moist and not tasty. <br>
Grilled Tiger Prawns with Lemon Caper Butter Sauce - There was a side of lemon risotto. The prawns were tasty, but the risotto was dry and tough. <br>
Tawa Fried Fish - It came with a side of mashed potatoes. Tasted hot and good. <br>

"Don Giovanni was the first restaurant I visited after moving to Pondicherry almost a year ago. While this review comes a bit late, both my first visit and a recent one mirrored each other, compelling me to write this.<br>
What I like about the place is it's rooftop seating. It gives you a lovely view of the town, sometimes interrupted by ugly buildings.<br>
Once you clamber into that no-good elevator upstairs, you enter the simple dining area, and you are immediately greeted by the French proprietor, a jolly guy. The waiters there are mainly North Indian fellows, who didn't quite understand what we needed until we switched to Hindi, the first time I visited.<br>
We were a group of 8, with limited time at hand. So we ordered immediately in hopes of faster service. But that was not the case. The food took a long long time to come. The food overall was decent. I'm a vegetarian, with not many options. I chose the gnocchi only to be disappointed. But the other dishes were quite nice, especially the pasta with the bacon.<br>
My biggest complaint was the tiramisu. It was the worst piece of cake I had ever had in any place. The place is definitely pricy, but overall, if the dishes are carefully chosen, it's a decent, happy meal."

"This place has a perfect rooftop ambience but the staff and waiters play a real spoilsport to it. Once u step foot in the rooftop restaurant you will be almost immediately ask whether you want food and alcohol both. If you are coming only for food they will strictly redirect you to 1st floor( Family dining). Then if you have successfully got into the rooftop restaurant they will be making you seat where you aren't comfortable to. Most of the waiters/staff are not at all courteous. They have basically very less idea about the food menu. So if you ask them about food basically the answer will be a yes or no, nothing further.
