"We had another enjoyable evening of excellent food and fine service at Zuni. Our fries were crispy, the margaritas divine. The Caesar salad was absolutely the best. Two of us had the pork chop. One had the risotto. We were all happy. As the price of the wines relative to their quality is usually askew at Zuni, we bypassed the wine list and had beer instead. A good beer with a fine meal is much more satisfying than trying to swallow mediocre wine."

"I had requested a window seat, of which there is only one, but was not offered it once I met my friend there. There was a woman with an infant sitting at the window table, although she wasn't eating or drinking. Not sure what that situation was, but the owner did not acknowledge the request. Upon my arrival at the bar, the owner almost immediately left from behind the bar and went back into the kitchen for around 5 10 minutes, leaving my friend and I without anything to drink. After a long day at work, it is nice to have a drink promptly served when you arrive. That was odd. Then the owner who had originally waited on us, gave us over to the only server working, who didn't realize that we were now hers. We were deciding what to have after our first glass of wine, and we ordered a second glass and I ordered the Pork Sliders. She acknowledged the order, but they never arrived and I'm pretty sure she never fired it to the kitchen. After being ignored, no food ever erring, we could not wait to pay the bill and leave. Horrible service and there were only about 10 people in the place. It was disappointing, as I had made a big deal of trying this place with my friend and its walking distance from my house."

"We have dined several times before and went with another couple this time. I did not realize it had changed to a prix fixe menu. The total for of us was Our server was spotty and we waited quite awhile for him to open the one bottle of wine we had brought. I think it is very confusing with the way the menu is laid out and your options. We all had a three course meal.. but I ended up eating my main course while others were eating dessert and had been offered coffee. My husband said his two dishes were excellent. I thought mine were all fine.. I did come home and have a snack though.. so for the price we will not return. But if you are a foodie, into the several courses, small servings.. and don't mind the price then it is a nice option in San Mateo"
