"Waited at least 5 minutes for maitre d to direct us to appropriate restaurant. Bad start there. When we reached Halloumi we were told all ordering was done through QR codes, which included a 5% service charge. We stumbled through the online ordering (pre show menu) and half our menu arrived 5 minutes later. This made me think they were warming up pre-made dishes, an idea which was confirmed when I tasted the houmous which was completely tasteless. The pita was unappealing. I don’t think we have ever sent food back at a restaurant but this was disgusting. To their credit, the waiting staff apologised and offered a replacement. My wife said that if the replacement was as bad as the original we didn’t want it. We were offered other alternatives such A free drink. The gyros, when they arrived (before the calamari incidentally) also showed no evidence of flavour and consisted of big chunks of chicken/pork wrapped up in a thick pita roll. The overwhelming taste was the pita rather than the meat. Their outdoor drinking area was partially enclosed with a permanent roof. I’m not sure of the regulations but I thought people were not allowed to smoke or vape in such a situation; they were doing both. We spoke to a staff member about this who told us smoking was allowed in the area and offered to get a supervisor to discuss this. No one showed. So if you want bland inedible food at an expensive price, if you want to pay (including tip) before you’ve ever seen the food, or the service, and if you want something approaching service from two of goodness knows how many staff are on duty, then Cranside Kitchen Halloumi is for you. If you want a decent meal, stay well away from this place."
