"This is our favourite local restaurant. Great, fresh sushi, and warm and friendly staff. The rolls are priced from the year 2000. It's not a large restaurant, so parties over 6 will challenge it."

"My brother brought us here for lunch. It was really terrific. Everything was very fresh and delicious. There is a really good lunch special. It was 7.95. We went on a Sunday afternoon and got seated immediately. The special includes Miso soup, just the right amount and extremely invigoration after a long walk through the hot city. A crisp, refreshing salad , and delicious noodle soup, I forgot which one, I just followed by brothers order I added a side order of tempura vegetables. My sister and I remarked on the crispness of the batter. Obviously they were cooking in exceptionally clean oil one of my pet peeves is burnt oil The batter for the tempura was light, crisp and a little sweet. All to my taste. Congrats to this little place. They made our day. Thank you"

"Very busy restaurant and you need to have reservations. The two of us did not and had to wait awhile to even sit at the sushi bar which we did not mind. Big menu and lots of choices but whatever you choose you would not...be disappointed."

"We didn’t intend on eating at the Papaya. A friend mentioned an excellent Thai place at Burrard and 8th. We were on bikes and figured this was the place. We went inside to a drab place with no Thai art or anything. Looks like they...took over a Jamaican or some other restaurant and never bothered to do anything. Only a few tables with customers. The owners are not Thai, they are Chinese. The place felt odd compared to the recommendation we got but sometimes a hole in the wall can be a surprise. We got our food and it was disappointing. The Tom yum soup was just Chinese style hot and sour with some mushrooms and tomatoes. The noodle tasted like Chinese stir fry noodles with beef. The veggie curry was all sugar. They do not know how to cook real Thai food. We ate, paid the bill and left. Looks like most of their business is take out with food delivery services. We did find the place that we were looking for a block down on 7th and Burrard. It looked awesome and they were full. We will not go back, but the other place is on our list to go try."

"This is where I was introduced to Donburi a few years ago. There are reasons why I have been back often. They are friendly,not expensive, and fairly quick. Maybe a little too quick. This time I had the Bibimbap and it could have profited from either a little more time in the bowl or a hotter bowl. I love the crispy rice that usually forms and was a little disappointed this time. Still the flavors were good and and the hot sauce that comes on the side brought the warmth level up a bit. Miso soup doesn't usually get me too excited but this was tasty. The other items that I have had in the past have all been enjoyable. I'll be back again."
