"We went with mixed feelings and left with a good inpression. Quite far to visit from Bucharest, it's a great place to stop when going or returning from Greece or Bulgaria. There is a nice view over the Danube and the neighbouring Ruse, the service is nice and friendly and a food was fresh and well cooked."

"Some restaurants just want to make money, others want to impress with chic furnishings, others just want to have a decent business. la taverna belongs to a rare category of restaurant where eating and the customer are celebrated. I went to this restaurant, on a...Nunssuming road in the non-tourist harbour of giurgiu with a companion who asked we can eat here? what a stupid question, I thought. the first thing that greeted me was a delicious smell of fresh cooking from the kitchen. we were guided by a very pleasant outdoor terrace and the menu. it was much better than similar places in caucarest. the sardines were not on the menu, as they came from Greece, I said very well. Instead, I was served a delicious tzaziki of thick yogurt, pungent garlic, gurke and mint. I chose a raw salate from beetroot, celeriac and carrot with a delicious dressing and a light and crispy chicken brooch carving with boiled kartoffels (I was offered three types of kartoffels) everything was fresh, but more than that, it was cooked with love. my companion had a Nikoise salad with freely sorted eggs, which he explains deliciously. we had a chilled, sligious foamed wine, perfect on a very hot afternoon. the service was excellent and it was very good value for money. I know I'm gonna be disappointed when I get out of caucarest next. cordial gratitude to the owner, manager, chef and employee. we look forward to coming back."
