"When you first approach La Voile Blanche, set on an unspoilt expansive beach lapped by the temperate waters of the Med, you sense that you are in for a bit of a treat. Despite the restaurant essentially being a large wooden cabin raised up about...a metre off the beach you enter a stylish, tranquil environment with jazz-funk being played at just the right volume. It did take a few minutes to be seated but we were on holiday and there was no rush. We decided to sit inside the restaurant and took in the views out over the beach and sea beyond. We could have sat outside but it was a hot day and we wanted to give our boys a break from the sun. We ordered drinks and then perused the menu, which was limited (but not in a bad way I hate being presented with hundreds of options in some UK restaurants and you know it's all food service companies providing the meals). We went straight for main courses, which was a choice of fish or meat dishes. Me and the boys went for the burger and my wife for a fish dish (very similar to monk fish) and presented on a vertical skewer, which was the restaurant's house special. A burger in France sounds a bit of a heathen or typican English choice, but it was a sumptuous home-made burger in a very good bread roll with cheese, bacon and onion. The meat was cooked rare, as requested, and absolutely melted in the mouth. We followed the meal with coffee and asked for the bill. At almost euros it wasn't a cheap lunch, but it was worth every penny. The service was friendly and professional, and by UK standards it was relatively slow, but this wasn't an issue. The leisurely lunch in France is alive and well, and this wasn't just because we were by the beach. Now back in the UK, I know that going to a beachside cafe here is never going to be the same."

"Having often eaten at l'Estagnol in Narbonne we thought we would stop for lunch at l'Estagnol in Gruissan. Big mistake. The coolness of the welcome should have alerted us and it went downhill from there. We ordered the menu du marche expecting whatever was fresh from the market. The choice was the thinnest sausage I have ever seen and a small portion of dauphinoise potatoes or encornets farcies ( stuffed squid) neither of which came fresh from any market. We ordered a pichet of very ordinary rose which cost 9 euros. We had no bread no napkins and not a smile in sight. We both agreed that the desert would need to be magnificent to make the offering worth the 14 euros menu price. We were offered chocolate mousse and when my wife asked about choice the choice was take it or leave it despite us overhearing French couples being offered other deserts. The actual food to be fair was tasty but the whole experience fell so far short of any reasonable expectation that we felt completely ripped off. Reluctantly our advice is avoid this restaurant at all costs."

"We arrived at We were still waiting for our first course minutes later. The quality of the food was good. We enjoyed what we had, the fixed price menu of the day, but the attitude of the waiter was unacceptable. He thought it...was amusing and as we were on holiday we should be prepared to wait. WRONG. The restaurant was very busy but usually you would expect to be served a first course within minutes. Other diners were served much more quickly, especially locals. We have eaten here before and we had brought a friend who was shocked at the dreadful service. We won’t be in a rush to return because over two hours to eat a simple three course meal is just ridiculous."

"Good table! In a warm atmosphere at the rhythm of Cuban music: Buena vista!! Fresh and very well prepared products. Excellent parsillad knives, curry molds with a very good curry! Real fries with real potatoes, gustative pleasure. A good selection of wines. No heaviness on the stomach. We will come back to taste a Mojito cocktail like in Cuba!) and take a dessert because yesterday we were filled. What the Casa viva!"

"We had a extraordinary time in this restaurant.After a beautiful day at the beach we entered this lovely and cosy restaurant. We received on the warmest welcome we ever had.Some great wines we're advised to us.We ordered some food ( a little bit of everything) and it was absolutely delicious. The fish and and sea foods were extremelt fresh (my very sensituve stomach can attest of that). The sides were great. And it was perfectly seasonned.I will go back as soon as i get back to Gruissan.Thank You Céboya Team!"

"Just as good as ever. Quick service, good basic food and prices that are a bargain in generally over priced' Gruissan. Try a petit pitcher of red wine for example, the every friendly Arno (the owner) gets it from where he works in the winter,...really good red wine at a ridiculous price. Chips at if you just want a nibble. Gets busy on a Saturday so go early or reserve a table."

"I really love to sit in the sun on such a beautiful place that enjoys seafood and a glass of white wine. I loved the concept that with a little more imagination plates etc. could be even better. also missed some wet serviettes. what I missed was most instructions in English, how and where to order, as it was something unusual. but the very friendly staff helped me through. big oysters!"
