"I haven't felt the need to write about a local pub for a while, but after nearly a year we decided to come back to Nags for some food as we had heard good reviews. Thank goodness we decided to spend a rare childless Sunday here. Jody greeted us with a warm welcome and came to the bar to serve us without hesitation. The restaurant seemed busy but we weren't still sure if we wanted to eat here. We were offered menus just in case we changed our mind . We sat In the window area at the front and reminisced about our youth we spent down here (talking 30+ yrs ago) . The general feeling was lovely, seeing people of all ages enjoying a quiet drink or a family meal. We decided to eat at the nags after looking at the great choice of menu options but due to a family of 4 with dogs sat near we moved to a quieter area just off the main bar. My husband was impressed with the Madri and said it was the best pint he had had in a while and my Malbec went down well. The food didn't take too long to arrive and it was absolutely lovely. I opted for the 3 meat Sunday lunch and it was honestly amazing. The meat just melted in my mouth and my side order of pigs in blankets was divine. Hubby had a steak and it was cooked to perfection maybe a little bit too much fat in for his taste and he felt the option of usual compliments like egg , onion rings were missing and could have been an option instead of the salad that came as standard. Saying that he cleared his plate,!! The whole experience made me feel I had to compliment the staff and it was very well received and appreciated. We will return where I am looking forward to tasting the seafood dishes. Thank you again to all for a reignition of interest on an old haunt of ours and within walking distance too ."

"The food is of a very good standard here but the restaurant is let down by the dreadful staff. When my husband found a hair in his food the owners wife more or less accused me of putting the hair in his food, she didnt offer an apology or an offer to change the food. Sooo rude, if we hadnt been invited there by another couple i would have walked out, i will not be returning to this restaurant, what a way to treat yr customers! My daughter some friends (all in their 30's) went recently were treated appauling. They need to have some lessons in customer service!"

"We found this pub surprising busy for a Monday lunchtime, mainly frequented by diners of an older generation. There was a good range of about four ales on the bar. The menu features mainly pub standards but there is also a specials board and it was from this that we selected the Pork Belly a 'go to ' favourite of ours, and it was quite reasonably priced at £12.95. It was served with mashed potatoes and peas now surely the chef could come up with more interesting accompaniments than this. As for the meat, the centrepiece of any good pork belly is a crispy skin and the skin on this was certainly not crispy; indeed not eatable. The pork was okay but not the tenderest ever. Personally I would prefer to have paid a bit more for something more appealing. Service was quite efficient but a smile or two from the staff wouldn 't go amiss. Overall opinion of this pub? Well, being so busy on a Monday lunchtime must say something, but personally I found the place very average."

"The food was great as always. The staff were lovely and very efficient. The only downside was the noise level. We were upstairs, and the acoustics are such that the four of us ended up shouting at each other across the table! Would definitely recommend, unless you want a quiet, romantic meal! Vegetarian options: There are limited vegetarian options available. Service: Dine in"

"Appalling service, waited 45 minutes to place a drinks order then had to request to place the food order only to be told by the waitress that the manager had instructed her to clear the empty table next to us. Wasn't asked if additional drinks were needed and that resulted in one 200ml of drink was consumed al evening!!! Trying to get the wait staff attention was difficult. The 2 chefs worked non stop, the Young waitress was blamed by the manager on duty when we raised concerned, totally ruined evening and for a first visit won't be returning or recommend to anyone."
