"The service was fast, but a little unfriendly. the squid was the best of the three fish we got: squid, cadry and scholle. the plage was obviously fresh and soft, but it lacked taste. the chips were not so crispy, but overall a good up"

"Padstow is also known as 'Padstein ' as it seems celebrity chef Rick Stein has taken over the town with his various eating venues and food establishments. We decided not to shell out for a meal at his expensive Seafood Restaurant, but opted instead for a relaxed lunch at Stein 's Fish Chips, which offers take away and also has an eat-in section. You may need to ask directions to find the place, as its address of 'South Quay ' is not particularly helpful, and it is located away from the harbour and the majority of restaurants/cafes, though only a short walk. When we arrived there was a short queue, but after only a couple of minutes wait we were seated in a prime position at a high bench looking out the window. This was perfect for the two of us, as all the other seating is at communal tables and was a little cramped. We ordered a Haddock chips and a Plaice chips, both with sides of mushy peas. The food arrived fairly quickly, casually served in cardboard take away boxes. The fish was obviously fresh and well cooked, though I wasn 't too keen on the batter, and the chips were under-cooked and too starchy."

"Tonight for dinner. very kind greeting and although the restaurant was very busy, the waitress gave us the choice of tables that had soon come free. eating was very nice, piping hot and large portions also, very glad to have decided against a starter. all in all, a great restaurant with excellent eating, service and staff."

"6 of us booked in for the roast dinner on New Year’s Day and it was honestly the best roast dinner I have eaten away from home. All meats and veggies were delicious as were the desserts and wines. We will definitely return."

"I looked forward and was pleased that the restaurant has an independent vegan menu, also a few nice options. It is mainly a fish restaurant and is on the expensive side we went as a special occasion for my parents wedding day. It was really nice to be able to go somewhere fantasy and have a vegan menu to choose. The cashew nuts Curry was delicious."
