"Okay. I tried that for the first time since Polo Grille. He had great hopes for an anniversary dinner. Saw the great reviews and thought it was good. First, the fried cucumbers with the sauce were great. Ends a second order. The Calamari was disappointing. I had no flair. Not even average Calamari. My wife and kids couldn't stop it. We're coming to dinner. Ordered 3 different sushi and a few new York strips. The sushi has a good taste, but the Kelp wrap was so chewing, the whole family spited it out. It's not easy. We finished the sushi and eat the insides and left them a plate full of Kelp. The $40 steaks? Very disappointing. We are not super picky, but if you pay $40 for a peppercorn cracked stripe, expect some a notch. This was average Western Sizzler Steak. My 14-year-old ate only about 4 bites and then gave them to my wife. Even if there was a $20 steak, there would be no problem. Just disappointed. Last were the deserts and they were quite spectacular. We ordered the cream brûlée, the banana cream something that came in a glass and a chocolate cake. Everybody was fantastic. I like the banana cream desert especially. This alone is worth going back, as it was quite brilliant. in other news I got her version of the Old Fashion Cocktail. It was pretty good. I had many different versions and their were good so kudos on them. All in all there were high points and low points of our food. As for the service, Alicia B worked very hard and did a fantastic job. I tipped here and the food is not her fault. Only expected more based on the reviews. Maybe a while before we go back. $300 for a family of 5 could have gone much further to Selva. We could not come to Selva without reservation. I thought that was a good alternative. Many other options in the area that are much better in food quality. Maybe try again."
