"My friends and I decided to dine here in Shakey's at Julia Vargas right after our shift. Since we wanted to try a proper food and stay away from convinient stores we found Shakey's and yes, now I am giving my review.

I gave it an average, for an average experience. Knowing that this resto is a casual dining, i really did not felt that it was. Well, since we were not really able to choose the table we like, the server was pointing on one table while I was looking for a better place, nope he still insisted his suggested table. Second point, we were informed that the food will be out in 15 mins and we actually waited 30 mins. We ordered ultimate bunch of lunch by the way.

✖️salad
✔️crab soup
✔️pizza
✔️spaghetti
✔️mojos
✔️garlic bread
✔️chicken"

"Was excited to try the food here. As we enter we were seated right away. As it was my first time eating here a waiter gave us a quick tutorial on how to order using the iPad tablet on the table. I was a bit confused though as we were also given the usual table menu. They told us that there were some items that are in the paper menu but are not on the iPad menu. And only the items that are on the iPad that are available for ordering. That said, it still didn't explained why they gave us the paper menu. Anyway, so we ordered from the tablet, and it was so nifty and "hi tech" and the food was service was also quite fast since we were served maybe within 10 to 15 minutes. Also if you are not comfortable ordering via iPad, a waiter can explain everything to you.

As for the food, most of their items are served "teishoku" style or "complete meal set" style. In other words, most of their entrees comes with a bowl of rice, miso soup, chawanmushi or japanese savory egg custard and japanese pickles. I had the Mix Toji Teishoku which is a mix of pork Katsu, shrimp katsu and sukiyaki style beef served on a hot stone dish and the rice was served separately. My brother had the sukiyaki teishoku which is a a big bowl of sukiyaki with both thin noodles and thick udon noodles. As for flavor, it was really good. I like that the sukiyaki beef was really tender and sweet. And the pork katsu was also tender and flavorful. I love that the food were served on hot stone dishes which kept the food warm all through out the entire meal. What I didn't like though, was that the rice and the miso soup were not refillable. But the rice was real Japanese rice so it was really good eventhugh it was "bitin". I ate everything on my set except for the chawanmushi which I never really developed a liking to. Drinks were not included with the set so we ordered lemon iced tea which was also not refillable.

Once you are done, you can again click on the iPad to check your bill and to signal the waiter to get your payment. Prices were a bit expensive comparing it to other Japanese restaurants and considering they don't have free refills.

This is not the first restaurant that I have eaten here in Manila that offers this unique experience of ordering from a tablet. And I think it is a more efficient way of servicing customers. I think children of all ages will like this new "hi-tech" way of service. I just wish this establishment will have more branches out soon!"

"Wide array of food and beverage, quick service, and really friendly, accommodating staff. Very affordable too! Personally recommend their crabstick salad, Paksiw na Bangus, and Frozen Brazo. Meat-eating friends recommend their pork binagoongan and lechon Laing!"

"I only order the potato chips. Addicted to it and wish they served beer as it would be a perfect end to the day. At least the stall next door serves beer and they don't mind that I bring the chips over."

"It's my first time to try their Pork Belly today and I was a bit disappointed. First, the serving was too small and had lots of fat part in it. It was cooked tender and the outside had just the right (fried) texture. It didn't feel oily but the one I got had a thick part of fat. I guess it was "balanced" after all. Haha. My plate included corn and carrots, mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy was a bit okay but it would be really good if it had more flavor in it. Also, I hope they could add an option to change the mashed potatoes side with plain rice.

I also ordered their Vanilla Milkshake which was another disappointment. I was expecting that it was sweet, heavy and thick. It tasted like milk was just blended with whipped cream. It was thick at first but it loses its texture halfway. I only got to taste milk when I was almost done."

"Not the best place to be having vietnamese cuisine. Such a waste of space in my tummy. The shrimp is not fresh and tasted very off. The service is good though so it kind of compensated for the not so yummy food. The zao chicken is not as good as I remebered. Overall, would not come back any time soon."
