"Just staying at Tortworth court nearby and thought we would try the most local pub for some food. I had the burger and wifey had the fish, unfortunately the chunky chips had to be replaced with skinny fries...not the end of the world, it's still potato Cheesecake for dessert, not bad at all, Service was good and quick. Seems like the waitress was the bar person too but she was chilled and polite and was coping fine...she hopefully has help when it's busier tho Overall it was a nice experience 5 stars from me Craig Barry VOG"

"August 24th 2020 my wife and I had lunch to celebrate a minor anniversary. We had good memories of this place from past years but were disappointed this time. As elderly people we are very Covid conscious and in that respect the pub does not take good precautions. No requirement to wear a face mask when ordering at the bar; tables not obviously cleaned with disinfectant between customers (no sign to say the table had been cleaned and no suggestion that it should be cleaned before we sat down); menus on flimsy paper that should be used once but customers were putting them back in the rack and the ones I took out had obviously been used many times; no evidence that the few plastic coated menus were cleaned between uses; Staff bringing food were not wearing masks and did not attempt to keep any social distance. Condiments already on the table in a tatty, dirty container which had probably been handled many times by previous customers, as had the packets of sauces and salt and pepper pot. Next disappointment was to find that the pub has not joined the government Eat Out to help Out scheme so we paid full price. We wondered why the place had so few customers. The food was average from an unexciting menu. I chose scampi from the OAP menu and it was pretty mediocre. The chips and salad were Ok. My wife had a rack of ribs and said that it tasted good. My apple pie dessert was good. Staff were friendly enough but the whole place needs some investment for updating and TLC. It feels unclean and unkempt. Many tables outside were covered in crinkly plastic not an appealing sight. We won't be bothering again. 3 stars is probably generous, but staff were nice and friendly."
