"Matsumi is a bit of a Hamburg institution and it's easy to see why. Nice atmosphere, always busy, and great food served quickly and presented well. We went there at lunchtime to celebrate our son's school report. We all loved the food and would definitely...go back. Highly recommended for fast, tasty lunch."

"We got the $158/person Omakase and like what everyone that reviewed the the Omakase set, it was WORTH IT! There was a couple of dishes that I thought wasn't really tasty but the 12 course meal will definitely leave you happy and full. Cons: The space was really tight, the tables are so close to each other that it felt like we were sharing a table with the other party Uni Risotto with Tortilla wasn't tasty, the tortilla took over the flavoring. We ended up avoiding the tortilla. Sushi rice was definitely leaning towards the vinegar. There were dishes that paired well with the vinegary rice but there were also dishes that did not complement the rice. No omakase menu with ingredients! Overall with the price point, you really can't complain for the omakase set!"

"As the resto is situated in an exclusive gated hotel, getting here is quite a challenge. Had to go through a series of checkpoints, and had to be escorted driven to the restaurant itself. Food, the very reason we checked this out, is impeccably amazing, especially the fatty (and very fatty) tuna belly I forgot for a sec that it was a fish — that’s how creamy it is. I am a big fan of gindara so I ordered that as an entree. Delicious. I get that it is in an expensive hotel so prices are sky high. I’ve been to many other similar places that offer equally fresh sashimi and gindara, at half (or significantly lower) prices, so value for money is not that great here. I guess, a good sashimi is a good sashimi, as long as the fish is fresh. Think about Tsukiji market for that matter. But then again, this is Aman, so I guess the price is right — it’s relative after all to its other offerings."

"In typical Japanese environment you can eat fantastic. it is really very authentic, of excellent quality is eating, very varied, absolutely fresh and prepared on the spot. a very attentive staff. the bar places allow the artists who prepare the sushis to look exactly at the fingers."
