"This is one of the few older places that still survives the overwhelming decadence that linger on in the zona rosa, despite the continuous attempt of the city administration to bring this area of Mexico City to its old "splendour". The menu has typical Mexican dishes, but the presence of a high percentage of (foreign) tourists among the patrons reveals the non-authenticity of the food. Just like any other restaurant in popular tourist areas around the world, also this one serves average dishes for prices that are higher than other better places you may find just a few blocks away."

"We stumbled across this charming small cantina while avoiding the massive crowds during the dia de los muertos parade a few blocks on av juarez. a table not far from the front door was private enough yet afforded a pleasant view of the front room with its incredible ceiling and the bar area. altho the restaurant was busy, we were given lots of time to eat and talk. the service was attentive without being aggressively so. our primary server was delightful, helpful and cheerful. i ordered a salad which ranks among the best green salads i have ever had in a restaurant--the portion was HUGE served in a good sized bowl--freshest lettuce, delicious dressing. my main course was a meatless chilaquiles with a large portion of black beans--i could only eat half.my friend had the salmon, which he liked, that came with french fries and a small side salad. desserts were a flan, good and a something that was strips of manchego and membrillo (quince paste)--it was not too sweet and delicious. in walking to the restroom (through the bar at the end of the building) i saw that all the food portions were BIG and looked tasty. everyone seemed to be having a good time.this was not haute cuisine but darn good and plentiful. can't say enough good stuff about the entire experience."
