"Great North American chinese food! You can read the info statement on their Celiac menu (available online) to find out more, but it was great to be able to eat at a restaurant like this for the first time in ages! Definitely must check it out."

"We've tried Lum's twice now. It is simple, unpretentious Chinese Canadian food that is reasonably price. We'd definitely recommend it as a local Chinese restaurant."

"Went here with my parents who used to live in the area and were surprised that it had been here so long. Now to the food excellent! We had a variety of dishes that we picked and all were delicious. Fresh and hot, as the take out was very busy on Thursday night meaning that there was a good turnover on the food. The server was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very basic in décor but personally I couldn't care less as long as there's a place to sit well depending on the type of food , it's clean which Young's is and it has good food. Would go there again when in town visiting."

"We had lunch here and the 3 course lunch for $17 was delicious. You got a choice of about 20 dishes to choose from. I had the chicken chow mein, spicy vegetable statay and deep fried prawns. Yummy!"

"The value at this restaurant is amazing! Not a huge choice of vegetarian items, but for the ones they have they give you huge portions. The staff are lovely. The service was quick. We drive from the other side of town (UVic) to go there often. So glad I found it. There is nothing fancy about this restaurant. It is just a simple place, family run, good food with generous portions. May it stay in business forever."

"My friend and I recently visited the East Garden and we very disappointed. We have been here before and it was always good but not any more. Our server could not understand English very well. We asked for a glass of white wine and she asked if we wanted a cup or a mug. Really? When we got the wine (in a tiny wine glass) it was the worst we have ever tasted...like someone's homemade hooch! We asked what came with the House Special Chow Mein. She didn't know...maybe shrimp she said and could be chicken. Hummm. We ordered the chow mein, crispy ginger chicken and prawns with snow peas. The chow mein was not soft noodles but dry and hard and covered with a greasy sauce with chunks of veges too big to eat without cutting and shrimp, chicken and pork. We only ate a small amount of it since it was so greasy. The prawn with snow peas were ok but the snow peas seemed to be coated in something greasy too. The best dish was the crispy chicken. Then to top it off when we got our bill and fortune cookie my cookie didn't have a fortune! Also while we were there none of the tables that people had previously eaten at (and left a lot of food) were cleared away. Head East of this place!"

"It's just a neighbourhood diner but the food is excellent here. The only time I've had a problem is when the owner's son is cooking as he can't cook and shouldn't be allowed near the kitchen. We have singapore curried noodles, Hong Kong chicken with pineapple, egg rolls, and a mushroom dish. I avoid the black bean anything because they use way too much and it's way too salty, but everything else is great."
