"When in Chartes, do what some local people do, enjoy the atmosphere of a typical good brasserie. We dined amongst a couple of ladies of the town, a gentleman from an office, teenagers and all. I had a Pelforth brune beer, croque monsieur and double...expresso, my lady had a tonic, braised chicory/ham au gratin, a gorgeous au gratin dessert, for which I had my own spoon supplied by the all knowing waiter and a herbal tea to finish. Throughout, our bread basket and water were replenished, a sign of a good attentive waiter. Service was impeccable, often in France I find that you are not chased to pay and tourists are annoyed by this, relax in the afterglow of the meal. If you need to leave and can not gain the attention of the waiter, simply go to the bar and pay, there is no problem. Watch the handshakes, kisses and smiles and you may realise how life should be, where there is a good welcome for all including grumpy tourists!"

"We got here, looking for a dinner on a Saturday evening. Most other Restaurants had no free tables, so we stopped here. From the outside the Restaurant looked empty. The menu outside showed Hamburger, which was good enough for us this evening. So we went...in and where told to go upstairs. Hell, what an unexpected experience. It is more a flat stuffed with tables and chairs, crowded with lot‘s of satisfied customers. We ordered Local Beers and Hamburger and had a great stay. To be honest, this was the best Hamburger I have ever had. Service was great and very friendly. Atmosphere is outstanding."
