"This was my first time visiting and I will NOT be returning to any chain of Pret. There was no sense to where the queue was and no one to make it clear (except a small paper sign people were standing in front of). I was waiting there for ages in front of the till waiting to be served. They could see that and didn’t acknowledge me or attempt to indicate I was standing in the wrong place. Some people came in a while after me and then after we were all standing in the wrong place, we were finally told to queue on the other side and they were served instantly. Knowing I had stood there first, the barista told me to join the back of the queue on the other “correct” side. I completely understand my side was incorrect, but I think it’s very curt to then serve the others before me fully knowing I had been waiting before them, to make a point. To top it off, another lady came and stood right where I was before and was instantly served on the other side the barista even looked at me despite this being the “incorrect” side. Normally I wouldn’t write reviews like this but as a barista myself and having worked in hospitality all my life, this was all very rude from their side and not the way I would ever act with customers. I didn’t even get a slightest ‘sorry about that’. Ironically the only people that apologised were the people who got served in front. It seems common decency is lost in these big chains. I didn’t make a big fuss but I 100% won’t be returning, I’d much prefer to support independent coffee shops or ones that have a sense of hospitality to them."
