"This hotel is a hidden gem. From the outside it looks quite ordinary and quite small but inside is just beautiful. I would say it has been refurbished at some point in the last couple of years because everything looks brand new. It is clean,...spacious, modern and comfortable. The bistro is huge and the food is great. There is an indoor/outdoor style kids play area as well as what looked like an outdoor eating area and a massive big undercover barefoot bowls green where anyone can pay to play. They have weekly food specials e.g. Parmigiana night (which I think was about and right now it’s decorated with beautiful Christmas trees, huge baubles and giant snowmen. It’s also open for Christmas Day lunch too bad I already have arrangements otherwise I would be booking. I wish I had taken some photos it looks amazing! Thanks"

"Good pacific island/kiwi food here, fair prices and taste good. Sometimes the customer service isn't that welcoming or friendly and they are very slow at responding to Facebook PM enquiries. Pies are good they do not make them but almost like the bakery pies found in NZ."

"The Royal Taj has taken over from that amazing yet unknown Italian restaurant Campagnola, and suffers from the same problem of invisibility, as it is just a street or two away from the popular Ballarat Road restaurant district. A large balloon saying "Now Open" indicates...(for now, at least) that it is there but it may still suffer the same fate of fading into obscurity. At least The Royal Taj managed to avoid the problem of mis-matching tableware, and they also have good wait staff, in what is a very good attempt at genuine Indian culture. The cuisine is mostly very well cooked, with a few exceptions, and, unlike the nearby Indian restaurant of Aangan, this one has great dessert. But this is far more expensive than Aangan, and much more expensive than Campagnola, and our banquet that we had because we couldn't figure out the menu cost a whopping each, with a tiny lassi and an overpriced small soft drink glass to total for a moderate sized meal. The quality was good but it wasn't worth, more like or worth, so we left there feeling ripped off. The owner was very rude when we tried to come by the day before this too. These guys clearly have business smarts but Campagnola was overall a better restaurant"
