"I previously bought takeaway from this place when it first opened but was turned off by the long (20-30min) wait and half-cooked pork. Hence I was a little hesitant to come here for lunch with friends.

I ordered the relatively safe soft-shell crab with green papaya and pomelo salad ($21). The problem point of this dish for me was the soft-shell crab - whilst it was cooked well with a crispy exterior and seasoned with salt and pepper, the gills had not been removed from the crab, which made for messy eating. The salad was light and fresh, sweet and tangy from the fruit, but could have done with some more fish sauce and perhaps a chilli kick. The prawn crackers were a plus.

This place appears in the Entertainment Book 2016/17."

"Love the dumplings and fried noodles. Have not tried the giant xiao long bao. Good casual local Chinese that is great for a quick meal. Will have to return to try dinner dishes"

"Best place to get pizza in crows nest, let alone lower north shore. Thin crispy base crust and ingredients are always fresh. Owner is warm and welcoming, family run business from the look of it. Always order from here when we get pizza, no-brainer."

"As others have mentioned, good/authentic Mexican food in Sydney is beyond hard to find! However, I've been on a constant quest, and this is the closest I've"

"So this was nice, had it on our radar to try, I think the Plant Based range has increased from when we first looked at it. It has a good array of choices with quite a reasonable range of breakfast and lunch choices so certainly enough choices to keep everyone happy. The courtyard was nice, heaters were running, it was quite cosy, it wasn’t a cold cold day outside but if it was I think it would still be ok. We had Brekky Wrap as GF, Big breakfast and Our Stack. Brekky Wrap served on a GF wrap however it has the “Made with Plants” Facon in it, so, not so GF. Big Breakfast was OK, I had a hash brown with it as an extra, which was a hand made, potato cake type hash brown, it was ok, not what I was expecting. The Our Stack was good, it came with a very large serve of half an avocado on the spinach and mushrooms. I feel the Big Breakfast could have a tofu scramble or similar with it because without the hash brown it might have been a bit underwhelming. I found the Big Breakfast at another local haunt a bit better tbh. Spinach and mushrooms cooked in oil, so a bit greasy for us as we are low to no oil, so we really notice it. Oil provides that lustre I suppose rather than just some blanched spinach so I get it but it was a bit ott for our liking. It is just across the road from what will be the new Crows Nest Metro station that might be open in 2023. Updated from previous review on 2022-07-31"

"Three of us dined here with a 50% discount deal from TheFork. We ordered three drinks, one starter, one serve of poppadoms with dips, three mains, a serve of rice, a serve of naan bread and two desserts. Without any discount that would have come to $147, with the 50% discount off the food (not the drinks) it came to $81, which for a superior dining experience, isn’t bad value for money these days. But you may not always be able to get such generous discounts with TheFork, because it seems like they pull out all the stops, to encourage patronage in July, probably the worst month for restaurants, being midwinter and school hols. However I note that EatClub seem to have a regular offer at WW of 30% or 35% off the whole bill. <br/ <br/ Putting price aside, we had a pleasant evening here on a chilly Sun night in early July. Our booked table was ready and waiting for us in a decent spot near the back. The place is carpeted with wooden furniture, low, mood lighting, wood panelled walls and decent heating, creating a warm, inviting and homely atmosphere: Perfect for winter, and one can’t say that about too many other Syd restaurants, most of whom are ill equipped to deal with our freezing weather. <br/ <br/ The place was surprisingly full, with a busy, lively and energetic vibe. I can only put that down to all the discount deals on offer here, because looking around this once bustling dining strip on the Pac Hwy in Crows Nest, most other places were, at best only half full, and some rather empty. <br/ <br/ Being quite full though had it’s disadvantages because the service was a tad slow. Staff were friendly, polite and courteous but obviously the kitchen staff were struggling to keep up. Drinks and starters arrived fairly quickly, then followed a tedious half an hour wait for the mains.I had a feeling something was up, when after our starters had been cleared away, they brought us a small dollop of what tasted like sorbet, which we were told was to freshen our palates between courses, but I suspected it was just a ruse to placate us while we waited! No matter, because the food was worth waiting for. It was outstanding: Fresh and tasty with delicious creamy sauces. The meat dishes were succulent and tender and the cheesy malai kofta was a nice contrast. Rice and naan bread were the perfect accompaniments and the sweet gulab jamun and kulfi desserts were the ideal way to end the meal. Portion sizes were just right: not overly large but with this kind of rich food, it’s probably better to go easy.<br/ <br/ There are separate male and female toilets at the back, rather poorly signposted, but they’re clean and well provisioned with soap and hand towels. <br/ <br/ Even with the carpets, the noise levels were a bit on the high side, but at least it’s good to see a restaurant actually nearly at capacity, especially on a Sunday night in winter!<br/ <br/ Parking was easy to find on the Pac Highway, and there are always spots to be had on nearby Ernest Street or in the Woolies car park.<br/ <br/ Altogether we were satisfied with our dinner at WaazWaan and would come again with an EatClub or TheFork deal."
