"Considered this a 4 star review. As a Japanese ramen lover, I was overjoyed learning a ramen-ya was opening in town. Then they had to put cilantros on their noodle. No cilantros on ANY food! Wasn?t trying to suppress creativities but it was not ?ramen?. So I stopped going. They updated their menus, they took out inedible green weedy ingredients, and it actually tasted great now. Keep it up. And leave weeds where it should be. The ground, the dumps, not in the bowls."

"RECENTLY renovated, bye bye Maggie.Yeap, extraordinary hostess with the mostest Maggie will remember your name and greet you wherever, even outside the restaurant. She's thinking retirement, where can we get another hostess like her? So I better write to thank her for the many wonderful chit chats and meals over the 30 years.We've been going and following this Malaysian restaurants since the 80's, sunrise and sunset. They used to have a couple of them, my favourite is in the City, I think Liverpool St if my memory still works, before the "internal dispute?" and shut down. City restaurant used to be one of the fanciest Malaysian restaurant in the 80's/90's, exposed Red bricks, linen on table, very fancy on a student budget back then anyway ;-) This place in Doncaster East was born, albeit differ from it's predecessor, this one is small outer suburbia, it has basic interior, nothing fancy, vinyl upholstered chair, no linen, even non-matching serving platers too, etc. but one thing remained the same, all waitresses wears that Singapore Airlines looking uniform :-) So if you are into all that fancy things, than this is not the place, BUT if you are into good Malaysian home-cooking favourites, this is STILL the one. Everytime we visit, we have never missed their Malaya Sotong, unbeatable, stood the test of times, been looking everywhere for this, nothing liked it, battered, sweet, tomatoes with a bowl or two of that hot Coconut rice, yummmmy ..... maybe best to take it easy, Cholesterol. Can add a bit of that curry sauce from the Beef Rendang too.Balachan Kangkong and some Hawker noodles; Char Kwee Tiaw, Ipoh Hor Fun, KL Hokkien Mie and the likes.BYO your favourite wines .... For what they are offering, personal approach and and the prices that they are charging, why would we, kids, family and friends stop coming here?Thank you Maggie and the team at Rasa Malaya. The place will never be the same and we shall miss you .... all the very best with your next endeavour."
