"I truly love this restaurant and have been a regular visitor since 2011 when I first visited Funchal. I love it's location, so easy to find being immediately next door to the ancient Old Town Fort. I also love its ocean fronted terrace the old town's ONLY ocean front dining). My favourite table however is on the covered deck, as its raised location provides perfect sea views. On colder evenings however I love to eat in the truly beautiful interior. However, my first love is the food! Lovingly cooked to individual order and then carefully presented as an art work. A true joy for all the senses. There is a fine selection of exceptional gourmet level starters, such as carpaccios, ceviches, grilled goats cheese, sea food and shell fish. Delicious main courses include fillet steak, octopus, grilled to tender perfection), grilled baby squid with garlic, seafood tagliatelle, grilled king prawns in a cayenne pepper sauce, scallops etc,etc. There are excellent wines to match your chosen dishes, and for those with a sweet tooth, a range of tempting puddings. Add live music on most evenings, and you have the perfect setting for a leisurely and very romantic evening. Take your time and enjoy it all, the attentive waiting staff will never rush you. Finally, the prices are very reasonable, which naturally pleases my husband when it's time to pay the bill!"

"Main courses took 75 minutes to arrive and when they did, they were cold. Food was slapped by the waitress on our table as she looked in the opposite direction with no apologies or explanation for the delay. Simply not good enough!"

"Melon starter was ninety per cent hard.main course pork loin was difficult to chew and hard to cut with cutlery. Have been to restaurant for 15 years and never disappointed like this. New managers attitude very poor unlike previous one.will not be returning"

"I always find it hard on holiday to know if I'm going to a really good restaurant. Thanks to Lonely Planet and Google reviews I'm so glad I came here! The food is fresh and really tasty. They are good portion size and really reasonably priced! The Scabbard fish Tosca style was delicious. Seriously, this fish may look scary but tastes just amazing! Also, the staff are wonderful and so attentive. I loved every moment and can't recommend this place enough! Thank you for such a lovely time."

"Antonio is the perfect host. Food is top quality cooked to perfection. My steak with roquefort sauce was cooked as I requested (rare). Best restaurant we've been to in Madeira we've been coming here for 30 years. Also very reasonable prices. Will be going again very soon ???? ????"

"Great place to eat tapas and have a fun night. the restaurant is outside the city center, but next to most popular hotels. perfect to enjoy an prise local beer after a long day of seeing and hiking. I also recommend to try their tapas, which is good with the Portuguese. the place is in the loud and full of young people, but this gives him his living atmosphere."
