"Great food. Steak and fish and chips were delicious. Previously had the liver and roasts and they are also lovely. Staff are always friendly and service is good. They are also dog friendly both outside and in areas within the restaurant. Always a welcoming and lovely meal when we come here"

"During a stay at the hotel as a couple to dinner. it was initially disappointed that despite the reservation in advance the restaurant did not let it know that the road would be closed for Christmas lights if we wanted to arrive. finding the restaurant in the building was not difficult, but there was no sign. follow a further quick disappointment that a third of the main meals were not available that in the evening no vegetarian option and only a red meat option. in the course of our meal only two other covers were served. we had set ourselves about 5 minutes before the staff spoke to the surrounding music. this led to a real lack of atmosphere. I had braided with a pickled brombeer venison. a poor court. the venison was overdonated and under-seasoned, recalling cat food. the pickled brombeere was not sour and could not cut through the bitter mushy meat. the radishes was watery. the twill rings, although incredibly thin and small, have a good taste and texture. I wouldn't recommend it. my partner had the ham-hock-terrine. this dish was very fresh and alive. a balanced dish, although it is lacking in each taste to increase it to a large dish. as a main course I had the one available red meat, braided ox cheek with mark. the jus were rich and fleshy and the narrow was well seasoned. the ochse was better than the venison that had been cooked on the same wise, although still a little overdue for my taste. the cream-colored kartoffels had good consistency and taste. a hearty court for a winter evening. my partner had the maple glazed pork beak with apple and apple. the star of the evening. a good sized pork chop, well trimmed, but with enough fat for taste. glaze was strongly flavored, but not exaggerated. good light contact on the apfel and glazing elements that could have been oversweet (especially with the maple) would recommend. dessert was sticky fabric pudding and a cheeseboard. both were good enough, though a few crackers hadn't fired on the cheeseboard. Overall, I feel that this is a restaurant that tries to be finer than it is in the position to be. if it is a little deeper, there is the potential for a very nice restaurant, but unfortunately it has not made this brand in this current condition."

"My wife and I have been to this restaurant several times before but on this occasion we very very disappointed where as before we have enjoyed a lovely meal but on this occasion it was very disappointing, for a start the beer I ordered tasted very bitter and had to ask for it to be replaced no apology was made only a comment maybe the Barrell needs changing . When our main course arrived the waitress was amazed that I should ask for warm plates instead of the cold ones we were given, also the vegetables were cold, dry a very little portion, trying to attract the attention of a member of staff was impossible so we just carried on eating what we could. After our meal we were asked by our waiter was everything alright I replied no and explained about how our meal was and we had not enjoyed it, the reply was sorry about that and off he walked. I tried to find a senior member of staff to complain about our experience but one was not available, I then paid the bill left never to return unless an apology is received,"

"Went for the adventure golf with my 3 year old as he loved dinosaurs and we had a blast. Was a little quicker then expected so decided to have lunch. Then it all took a turn. Apon entering the restaurant it was wonderfully air conditioned. Sat by the window. We were a little early for lunch so decided to have a drink first. 2 cokes and a j20. Coke was flat and got 3 bits of ice each in a hot glass. But whatever, I can live with that as was thirsty. I asked if we could order lunch now (11.45) ready for them to start cooking it at 12 when it started. Was told it was fine by the chef (who was working on the bar which was strange). Was told the oven just needed a little time to heat up. After I'd ordered I saw the digital thermometer said 85⁰ so immediately I knew I'd made a mistake. Working with these ovens for the last 5 years I knew it'd be a minimum of 30-40 minutes before the stone was hot enough. But we weren't in a rush so decided we could wait. 40 minutes passed and still no pizza (bare in mind with a correctly temperature oven they should take 3 to 4 minutes to cook) so I went to ask how long they'd be. You lady asked the chef and we were told they're coming. Ham and pineapple and a pepperoni, easy right. Wrong. Ham and pineapple arrived. We were told the chef wasn't happy with the pepperoni so was making another. So we thought that's fine, it happens. Until we started to eat and the dough was raw. Cheese and toppings over cooked and the sauce was just tomato puree and very, very salty. Returned it immediately explaining why and was told they'd make another. Another 35 minutes passed with 3 tables and 3 members of staff having there meals cooked and served before I had to get up and ask again. Was told they were coming. Sat back down, 3 minutes later the pepperoni arrived. Again, straight away I could tell, cheese (which strangley I think was Cheddar) over cooked, greasy, crust burnt and dough only just cooked but still a soggy base. 3 year old was restless at this point so we had no choice. Then the Ham and pineapple arrived and it was the same story all over again. Apon receiving the final pizza we were asked if we'd like a drink to compensate which was something I suppose. I feel sorry for the poor girl on the bar. I think she wasn't old enough to serve alcohol so that's why the chef had to keep coming out and pouring pints. We were the only others in there eating for the best part of 40 minutes. Pizza was awful, tasted better from your local kebab house, the building in its entirety looks tired and in need of maintenance. I used to come a lot 5 or 6 years or so to play golf, but it's fallen a long, long way from the quality it used to possess. Needs some attention all round. Would recommend the adventure golf and the golf facilities as both were and look great. If only the same tlc was turned to TKC. Won't return to eat in a hurry."

"Having used the Crown for the last 15 years this was the worst experience I have had. The quality of the food was very poor, for my starter I had a prawn cocktail but what arrived was some old limp lettuce with a few partly frozen prawns and sauce. Historically this used to be presented in a glass with fresh lettuce and topped with a King Prawn. The service was extremely slow, having sat down at 1 pm we were unable to leave until 3.30 which I feel is too long for a business lunch. There didn't seem to be enough staff on duty and only one barman to serve on arrival causing large queues for drinks. Unless there is a change to the better I will not use this franchise again."
