"It was kind of disappointing. The chalupas were soggy and I didn't care for the mix of toppings. We were seated near the kitchen and they were running a vacuum or blender most of the time we were there. This had been a favorite restaurant until today. Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3"

"For almost twenty years I 've made a concerted effort to visit the sleepy hamlet of Collinsville for their annual Halloween parade and have made something of a habit of getting to town well before the festivities to check out local businesses and restaurants. This eats up an hour or two as the whole town is really just a couple of blocks and a very few points of interest. Having been to numerous incarnations of the space that formerly housed Francesca 's Wine Bar, it was a very pleasant surprise to experience the significant upgrades made by the new at the time owners back in 2019. That seems like a lifetime ago but two years later I was doubly pleased to learn they 'd outgrown that tiny space and took up new, larger digs across the street. While the whole of the experience was far closer to five stars than four, there were a few marked dings that, though in no way soured a great evening, were noticed all the same. First off, we were significantly early for our 5:30 reservation but having exhausted our local gawkery, we decided to entreat the host for a couple spots at the bar before moving to our table. They were immediately quite accomodating as they simply directed us to our table but I found it somewhat odd the Maitre d ' offhandedly remarked the bar wasn 't open . Not an issue whatsoever, as I say we were very graciously accomodated. I meant to say that just the phrasing was a bit taciturn. Either way the table was spectacular, their rear balcony overlooks a lush yard that walks out maybe twenty feet or so to the gorgeous tree lined riverside. We all remarked on how beautiful this must be in the peak of summer. Our visit, obviously, was not in midsummer and it was a particularly rainy evening. There are very probably fire hazard restrictions keeping them from doing so but the space desperately needed some sort of heating system. I 'm not one to whine about being cold at a restaurant, or anywhere else for that matter, but by the time we got to dessert I couldn 't feel my extremities. The food was unassailable, easily a ten out of ten. We began with a cheeseboard which was very well curated and appropriately sized, as well as a burrata dish that was wrapped in a very clever thinly shaved and compressed melon skin . Both were lovely but we 'd hardly made a dent when the entrees were delivered and we weren 't exactly dallying. As the starters were cold anyway, this didn 't really present an issue as we were able to simply leave the first course on the table and graze but it did feel quite rushed and ultimately somewhat cluttered. Considering the third entree arrived perhaps five minutes later than the others, I 'm not sure what the hurry was. It didn 't matter. The quality of the food was balm enough to gloss over these minor missteps. I had the duck which is not to be missed, just a perfectly executed dish all around. My cousin had the chicken with grits and my buddy the NY Strip, both of which appeared technically flawless and were very much enjoyed by them. We shared a chocolate panna cotta which was also decent if not comparatively boring and left utterly satisfied. So this is a pretty solid recommendation if you 're going in without the prior experience of their time at the Francesca 's space. The reason I call back to that point is that it clearly colored our expectations. The last time the three of us shared a meal back in that spot, the food was equally elegant but the atmosphere was more intimate and the staff more inviting. To be clear, the members of staff we interacted with were great if a bit scattered but their service was neither of the same warm style nor level of detailed attentiveness we went in expecting. That 's on us. Different spot, different people, different night. The only other criticism I can levy would be more of a friendly warning, their prices in some areas are dancing on the edge of eyebrow raising. I say this understanding fully that food costs have skyrocketed over the past year for reasons out of anybody 's control. While I don 't generally comment on price, the NY Strip at forty bucks, let 's say, stood out and a $25 wine glass pour (more than one on the list actually) is ballsy, even for so affluent an area. But save your pennies and go anyway."

"Oh my! The gyro plate was so delicious. There was enough meat and sauce on the plate to satisfy my taste buds. The salad had sufficient enough salad dressing to please me. The taste of everything was so delicious. I enjoyed dinner and the next time I am burned-out on eating the same foods (burgers and chicken) I am going back for another gyro plate."
