"I came across Backmulde after checking Michelin Guide, where I noticed this restaurant was rated as "Bib Gourmand". As I was staying two days in the city, I booked a table there. I had a three-course menu: Salmon Tartar, Loup de Mer with vegetables and a Marillenknödel with Pistachio sauce. All of them were nicely prepared and presented. The service was very professional and attentive."

"Housed in a century building, the interior of Die Kartoffel is lovingly filled with all sorts of antiques and bric-a-brac. In summer, guests can enjoy their meal al fresco under a century “Gewölbe” (arch) or in their Biergarten. The quirky atmosphere is not...the only attraction though. Die Kartoffel is well-known in the region as a place where you can enjoy a piece of meat like you would during the Stone Ages... well, almost! The house specialty is an Argentinian Black Angus steak served on a sizzling slab of lava stone heated to degrees Celsius. You get to grill your steak at your table, exactly how you like it. The steak meal comes with different sauces, along with a baked potato smothered with homemade sour cream and a side salad. Other meats, prawns and even vegan and vegetarian options are available. Overall an enjoyable dinner with delicious food, good local wines and great service. Note: There is a ventilation system in the dining area, but it doesn't entirely remove the grill smoke from the tables, so be prepared to smell like a piece of grilled meat at the end of your meal!"

"Eating is good, but could be better. the offer of breakfast dishes is great, perhaps a liter too expensive, but delicious! a good place to have a wine in the evening while sitting outside and enjoying the marketplace. is unhappy that it now. closes every nite at 18:30 out of a strange ground."

"Wir waren ohne Reservierung in diesem Restaurant eingekehrt und sind nicht enttäuscht worden. Das Restaurant ist modern und einladend eingerichtet. Es gibt eine übersichtliche Karte mit bodenständigen Gerichten, aber bestimmt alle sehr gut. Wir haben eine Empfehlung des Wirt gewählt, die nicht auf der Karte stand und sind nicht enttäuscht worden. Der Vorspeisensalat frisch und nicht überladen, das Fleisch nicht zäh und die Bratkartoffeln knusprig. Wir kommen bestimmt gern wieder und können das Restaurant 100%ig weiterempfehlen."

"The restaurant got a new owner in the 18th april who has already earned his stripes in the loadingburg gastronomy. I am glad that he has returned to the city, in another position and with another concept. that said the menu is pleasantly short, yet with...sufficient selection of appetizers and main courses, mainly regional and seasonal nature. we followed the recommendation of the day and were not disappointed. especially the main course; kodfish with black pudding! on pure and sour wort simply tasted fantastic. it turned out a great combination that was perfectly flavored. the location and the furniture itself are unpretentious, but conclusive and cozy. we visited the place on a rainy Sunday afternoon and felt very well cared for. great value for money."
