"Fantastic restaurant centrally located. Food and was excellent and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and attentive. We were a group of 14, and they managed the table very well. No drama or delays. Great food, great service, great evening."

"Down an alleyway off the Piazza Anfiteatro (right where Rick always says to look), we stumbled on this absolute gem of a restaurant. Mostly outdoor seating, Mamma is in the kitchen, and everything that comes out of it is delicious. We started with the fried zucchini and its flowers, the lightest tempura treatment lending crunch to every bite. The seasonal porcini mushrooms were presented the same way. Pastas all looked good but we went right for the meat: a duck breast perfectly pink inside with a pile of gently caramelized onions that brought out the sweetness; and a fabulous steak, tender and juicy rare, topped with a generous portion of shredded truffles, coarse salt, and some mystery ingredient that took it to another level. We chose a local wine by Lippo that was great with everything as well as being quite inexpensive. If you’re in Lucca, don’t miss this place—BEST meal of our trip!"

"I am a vegetarian and whilst in Lucca we found this amazing restaurant. My partner who is not vegetarian said he loved it too. The ravioli in a walnut sauce was so good I am going to try and recreate it at home. The pasta with truffles my partner had was excellent too. We found this place on our last night we wish it had been sooner!"

"Great service, great food. Awesome staff. We always have some issues with eating out due to selective eaters in combination with gourmet foodies. But owner and chef promised to make the menue work even for the picky eater. So much that he actually ate from the meny and loved it. Even ordered the same food twice. But he was nicely guided by staff and trusted their opinion and knowledge. Stop here, food awesome also supporting local businesses. Wine 48 page menue."

"We booked this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel. It's interesting because although most of the diners are tourists it isn't really a tourist place. Most people were there on the recommendation of a local. So, what you get is an authentic Tuscan restaurant that understands how to cater for visitors. It is within the city walls but a little bit out of the way so you have to know you are going there. The food and service are excellent with lots of choice of meats and fish. We shared starters of calamari (a must try! , polenta with grilled smoked cheese and Russian salad. for mains 3 had roast pork and one fried cod. We couldn't fault any of the dishes."

"The food was absolutely delicious. Just like I grew up with. Perfect size portions. We had Gigi's house red. Prices are very inexpensive. If you get steak, it is served by the kilo. Overall great experience. Make sure you make reservations ahead of time. He does book up fast. Very limited seating inside and out. Very quaint. My only negative experience was the male server was rather rude to us. He spoke to all the tables but us. He basically ignored us. I felt very uncomfortable. I guess he has his regulars and he noticed we were new. He just passed us by like we weren't even there and I speak fluent Italian."
